What could possibly the difference by saying..
« on May 08, 2011, 07:32:56 am by Rovin Reporter »
if we went up this \"would this team be good enough turn out for us in the premiership?\"
because  by the same token staying up 4th bottom is this  side good enough to turnout for us next .i don't think so. either way. Deadwood or not we are looking very stale home and away .
Next season will be our last if the squad does not develope  a fighting mentality, SOD is a great tactician but has no grunt , we have no players who lead from the front. not a plan B and we are not ruthless enough when in front of how to kill a game off..
We survived because we took enough points from the teams bellow us ,and nearly religated because we did  not take enough from where it counts from the teams above.

The club cash poor  but  have a golden boy in the team ,it will not take much to price him away , a player swop plus cash may do it, With high wages year on year but  poor turnouts at home means something has to give , either SOD and the  players except its tougher times ahead and we all chip in more through the tunstiles /season ticket  because J/R does not have a better plan . , selling to survive is not what he wants but it seems that is all that is happining ( Wellens , Mills  ....Sharp ?) but you can not satisfy all concerned in this situation.

As a supporter i will have to be satisfied by staying up and not expect too much by way of change , What grips my gut , is the fact that teams attract good loan players and use them to better there results on the pitch ( Blackpool 21 last season) but we end up with dregs and dead legs . If Sod's is to maintain his justified reputation as a quality manager , then he has to be as good at persuading the right type of player  to come to Donny.

I presume you were saying exactly the same thing when we were threatening to get into the play off places before the worst injury crisis I can remember at the club (and that is a fair old while)? What grips my gut is people who have memories that go back no more than a couple of weeks. We have the nucleus of a good squad, we no doubt will be adding on/discarding over the summer, but not in a massive way, hopefully in a quality way. I presume you want SOD throwing out as well as he has no \"grunt\", what the hell does that mean? He doesn't scream and shout about? His teams play football and not free style wrestling/rugby up and under stuff. Good loan players? JET was no good then,Jordan Mutch, Mason, Moussa? Prem teams seem to rate these people fairly highly, but then the managers of Leicester, Spurs, Birmingham and Arsenal probably have no \"grunt\" either. Get real.

Most of what you say RR i disagree with, especially re SOD being a great tactician, i think that is one thing he certainly is not. Some of his \"Loanees\" have left a lot to the imagination, but some have been good ones, i guess it is about 60/40 in favour of good.

I do think a lot of player changes are required, however finding the ones that suit SOD and his style will not be easy, of the current squad starting at the back i would only keep the following.

Woods, Oconnor, Friend, Hird, Dumbya, Stock, Gilette,Woods M, Shiels,Oster,Coppinger, Hayter, Sharp.

The rest can be shown the door for me.

I doubt if SOD has the guts to get rid of anyone in the current squad, so it will be same old..same old. next season.

despite him saying that he has not ben happy with the performance some of them are putting in - see threads below?

also you cannot force players who are under contract to leave - someone has to want to buy them and offer them terms they accept. If you want us to pay them up for the rest of their contracts this leaves even less money to invest in the summer
