One to proveoke your thoughts...

2 wins in TWENTY-FOUR - how many managers would have been sacked?

Injuries can only play a certain part, the buck lies with the manager. I'm not calling for his head, and wouldn't advocate such a decision. However, he must appreciate he is one lucky boy to have such a lenient Chairman in charge!

Lenient chairman, or one that takes four years of achievement ahead of 24 games.

It's been a bad run for sure, but too many clubs panic and dish out P45's at the first sign of trouble and they tend to be the ones in a constant quandry. I'm glad we're not one of them.

I don't think staying in the Championship is a failure at all, but even if we did class it as a bad season there have not been many times we've been able to say that in recent years!

Or perhaps a Chairman who isn't as fickle as the fans are and has more understanding of the long term.

The negative crap I've read on this forum today is depressing. Yes, our final league position is disappointing, but I think this season has actually shown that we've improved year-on-year in this division. If we'd had the injuries we've had this season in our first season at Championship level, we'd have been straight back down again, no question. This season, we survived. Progress, of an unusual sort I grant you, but still progress.

On the assumption that we can't possibly have a another injury crisis of the depth of this season's, I don't think we have a lot to worry about if we can have the majority of our wounded back for the start of next season. When you read all these calls for wholesale changes that people make on this forum, you do wonder how many of our fans live in the real world...

as you have a pretty long track record of slagging of Sean O'Driscoll at any given opportunity my thoughts are provoked by wondering what you have against him?

I blame that football manager... too many online wannabees.....

the thing is, we should be looking forwards now..we have the summer for the lads to get back to fitness , we have another season in the Championship to look forward to..

And for those who think we didn't do too well this season, well I can think of three teams that would give their eye teeth to be where we are tonight...

I don't know about you, but my cup looks pretty full tonight.

What about the credit for keeping us up?

He masterminded two must not win games v Palace and Preston with strong concise tactics ....True six pointers!!!

If we lost these games we would have been in very big trouble!

I am neither pro/con SOD. I agree with the run we've been on being shockinf, but the injuries have shafted us big time!!!

... Although for ANYONE to say it couldn't happen again next year are naive. Maybe not to the extent of this year, but if some MAJOR key players were cropped it doesn't take much for heads to drop... In ANY team!

I do feel though its time for a change, not with SOD, but  for some of SODS ideas. It wouldn't hurt to try some other options and also hit pre-season hard and look at how a (quality) team, although i'm biased!!, can offer alot of options if played to there full potential. I am not an online geek or a football manager wannabe. But IMO fitness, tactics, roles, players, weaknesses and fear are all something that should beam down on Cantley Park in the next 3 months.

... Heres to a (hopefully) happier 2011/12 season, and MANY more!!!

RTIFkinD!!!

If we had won just two or our first 24 games of the season then SO'D would have been sacked. It's only the fact that we had enough points in the bag from a more than reasonable first half of the season that has kept him his job IMO.

It's clear that this has been one of his hardest seasons in football and even he has struggled to contend with some of the challenges we have faced. I would never call for him to be sacked, but he sure has hell has work to do over the summer and plenty of issues to address.

Hate to role out an old cliche but the spine of the team is all important, we need a good goalkeeper, a stong centre half, a ball winning midfield player and a strong centre forward, however all these positions need to be filled by players over 5ft 6ins in height. With SOD's record that is never going to happen so we can look forward to another struggle next season.
I don't think it is beyond our finacial restictions to come up with some suitable solutions to these problems but with SOD's thinking that performance is everything then I fear that these problems will not be addressed next season.
Now what am I going to do with myself on a Saturday afternoon for the next 12 weeks or so apart from reading all the speculation of ins and outs on here.
