To Top Donny Dog

THE award for “the warmest welcome to visiting fans” this season goes to Dunfermline and their mascot, Sammy the Tammy.

As Raith Rovers supporters readied themselves for the game, Tammy charged on to the pitch dressed as a cardboard tank, motioned as if he was firing at the visitors while “the sound of machine gun fire blared through speakers before the derby at East End Park”, according to the Scottish Sunday Mail.

Police later spoke to officials at the club and offered “a word of caution in relation to the way the mascot presented himself”. As Scottish writer and Raith fan Ian Rankin, who was at the game, tweeted: “Not subtle”.

Just reading up on him, in another game a few weeks before the title decider with Raith he tried sledging down the steps of the stand, but ended up crashing into empty seats about two thirds of the way down.

Seems like quite a character/mentalist.

I would love a mascot at Rovers with that kind of attitude. Gone are the days of \"The wrestlers\" and hand gestures to the opposition fans and all the other Andy Liney antics. It's a shame. This new one is hot under the suit, but give me the Andy Liney antics any day.

Agreed. Another one of Sammy The Tammy's antics was wearing a pair of brown card board boxes as shoes, and a long black overcoat to take the piss out of Falkirk manager Stephen Pressley who always wears the same hideous attire.

Another prank was when he was pushed onto the pitch dressed as a baby in a pram, where he then proceeded to throw a load of toys out of the pram - this time taking the p*ss out of Kris Boyd when he 'retired' from international football a week earlier and said he could never work under George Burley again.

Likewise. Trouble is now the club are that sanitised they wouldn't allow us to get up to any antics. Shame because we'd all love to see some cheeky chappy behaviour. It's called fun !!

We have some very unusual characters up here, the other side of Hadrians Wall.
You should make sure you watch The Scheme when it is networked in England. We have seen the series in full up here and it is quite different from the leafy suburbs of Edinburgh where the neighbours would complain if the recycling wagon was late. (it never is)
Just be glad you live in Donny.
In The Scheme even the dogs walk round in pairs.
One of the stars of the show was a dog called Bullet that had to find a foster home when it suffered a broken leg.
