greeting from Peru
« on June 13, 2011, 05:46:56 pm by retford rover »
Hi to all Rovers fans out there, we have come to the end of our gruelling trek, myself and Ross Burberry went up Wayna Picchu this morning setting off at 4.20 am , and when we got back to the ancient ruins at Macchu Picchu, we bumped into a Rovers fan from New Zealand, one Richard Skelton, who listens to us on Rovers World. could not believe it, also found a bar in Cusco called the Real MCcoy owned by Sally Morris, who´s Dad owns the Bullseye Motor spares in Donny.  Been a great experience, shame its been overshadowed by donny dogs antics, got a 28 hour journey home  to look forward to, not including the 4 hour train trip back to Cusco today. Rovers fans should be proud of all on the trek,  especially Planty and Steve, and for Mark Wilson doing the whole trek in trainers as BA/Iberia still have not found his bag. Please if you havent already donated there is still time on justgiving.com/roversincatrek  or text inca to 70777.   looking forward to the fixtures Friday
p s my computer at home is still u's  Hoping to be back on line by Thursday.
thanks again to all the kind messages sent whilst on the trek, between Steve and myself taken over 4000 pictures.

Better get back soon Paul, we're going to be away first game of the season, so buses to organise etc.

Seriously though you and the rest of the guys are absolutely legends, I've said it elsewhere, but you guys have demonstrated everything that is great about our club, and I don't think I've been prouder to say that I'm RTID.  have a safe trip back

Yes well done from me to sir,oe thing though did you have much oxygen???...No disrespect but its slightly concerning that Willo and Copps are spending there night sucking oxygen like a 40 a dayer yet no mention of the lets say less than match fit parcipitants having any..

Is this a potential clue to the amount of goals we ship in the last 5 minutes, some of our welders wear air fed battery oxygen masks, maybe we should mention it to sod and get all the lads fitted with one.lol

Great effort from all. For Willo to do the whole thing in trainers is quite brilliant.

Well done to all!

Best bit of advice when you're going on a walking trip is to wear your boots on the plane, as a well worn in pair are irreplaceable.

I could've told you that myself, Paul. Sally is my cousin, and Trevor my uncle.

As someone who did the walk up Wayna Picchu 35 years ago I know how you feel. When you get back to Cusco, if you have not already tried one, a Pisco Sour used to help me sleep. I don't know if that is still a fashionable drink after all these years but if not I am sure you will have a well deserved beverage in mind.
As a matter of interest that train to Cusco used to have British Rolling Stock, but really really old, amazing how far our Empire stretched.

Respect and well done

Paul, what time's the Brighton bus leaving Cuzco? And is it picking up in Bogota, Panama City, Guadalahara, Calexico and Waterdale?

the kids at the school we visited in the mountains, had the 1st packet of jammie dodgers, and a box of chocolate fingers, but my self and Ross Burbarry the fitness guru, took another packet of jammie dodgers up Wanya Pittchu on the last day and shared them at the top with a couple of yanks and a german.
been in Spain  for a couple of days since, just got back, by all accounts it was on look north and sky last night about the trip,  got over 5000 photos between us, so will have to get a gallery sorted out asap.
funniest thing on the journey back from Cusco on the local train, the Guard, the girl selling refresments and another member of staff doing a fashion show, of the local Alpaca garments , and dressed up as a witch doctor, had us in stitches.

Have you lads buggered off or or are you hanging about for a few days?  I'm next door just over the border in La Paz, can catch you in Cusco or Juliaca if you're still about, maybe I'm too late.  Otherwise great trip lads.

My fault, kicking myself for not having got in touch before, been living in La Paz last few years.  Top work anyway, and glad you enjoyed it (and didn't get arrested ;) ) in Cusco, trust you all had a good one!  Hopefully catch up for a beer in Donny, great work lads.
