Rovers interested in Stephen Quinn
« on July 14, 2011, 12:51:55 pm by Jonathan »
According to Paul Goodwin (Free Press), O'Driscoll has basically confirmed we are interested in Stephen Quinn, however finance could be a stumbling block as he is on a decent contract at Sheffield United.

Have to say I think he would be an excellent signing for us. Small in stature but a nasty little **** and one that would add energy, bite, experience and no little ability in the midfield. He has Premiership experience, is still at a good age and swept the board at Sheffield United's player of the season awards last season.

We're still short of a midfield player and this is one that could improve us. Much moreso than his brother who is, unfortunately, too injury prone.

agree, would be an excellent signing. Just the type of player we need in that midfield. Him and Gillet would be a fiesty little combination in there!

I'll leave it to the moderators whether this should be moved to the rumour mill, although the fact it is on Twitter and SO'D has admitted it to a journalist means it's no longer a secret I guess.

Quinn would be a real quality buy to improve what is (if everyone is fit) one of our stronger areas. We still need improvements like this to push on and try to improve on last season.

I'd take him, wages (again) could be an issue, like Jonathan said he's a feisty and would give us some bite in midfield, which is one thing we've lacked since loosing Wellens.

I'd have him as he would improve the team, but not before we have signed a quality centre half to improve the weakest area of our team.

Whether we could afford Quinn alone is questionable. Whether we can afford both is a stupid question - we quite simply cannot. I just hope SO'D knows what he's doing and we're not in the bottom three by the end of the season.

Gets dogs abuse from sufc fans, but I thought when we played them,he was by far their best player.
Very Paul green like, with his work rate and likes a pop at goal too, I hope this comes off.

He \"used\" to get dogs abuse. He wasn't doing by the end of the season. Blades fans love him by and large. Wasn't George Friend getting dogs abuse at the start of last season. Look at him now.

Great player and would be a great signing.

Just listen to Praise Or Grumble!Blunts fans would moan at Alex ferguson If he was their manager. They did'nt know what gems they had in Billy and blaming Warnock when they got relegated from the premiership showed how fickle they are. It's no suprise to me to see where they are now.

I've always admired Quinn and thought he would fit into our team perfectly. He plays our kind of game. if there's any truth in it and we bring him in, i will be buzzing. I'm so excited for next season. These new signings are looking very promising.

Brilliant little player. I'd prefer Quinn other than Williamson

I was told about this at the end of May by a Blunts fan who also said that Leeds, Newcastle and Coventry were also interested. The transfer fee of £750,000-£1m on top of wages could also be a factor in Quinn not coming. My source said that Quinny did sound intersted in a move though.

I would be amazed if we got him, great little player who can grab a game by the scruff, something we sadly lacked last season. If we managed to sign him, along with the others, next season could become very interesting.
