Its not about a bollocking after a game, its about firing them up before it and not treating the whole thing like a game of chess. There are managers who will bollock players and still get gutless or headless chicken performances.

I've a feeling something could change in SODs attitude after this.

I'm sure he has already said it is not his job to motivate players.

I know I will get accused of being negative from all the happy clappers but can someone explain to me. If it isn't his job to motivate the players after that shite on Saturday then what is his job??

In real time, it is fast approaching 6 months since we last won a league game.
7 since we last won at home.

Can't disagree with any of the comments; but the players must also take responsibility as well. They should also be self-motivated. Surely they can't be happy with themselves?

Interesting to note; when Phil Orange got the job at Deepdale, he commented how many players were just happy to take their salaries and spend most of the time hiding in the treatment room.

I appreciate a lot of our injuries are long-term ones, but I do wonder about the physical and mental state of some of our squad too.

Even when Martis was \"fit\"; how often did he managed to complete 90 minutes? His confidence seemed really fragile.
Stock, Martin Woods etc... Are they unlucky, or are there underlying problems in that when we rush them back, we are doing their long-term career more damage?

One problem we do have, is that we need these injuries to clear asap. However we CANNOT be rushing them back.

We're not the only team suffering with injuries. I believe Derby have half a dozen out and Palace/Coventry seem to be struggling too.

So what is it? Modern day footballers are just not as tough as they used to be?

Well if the interviews SOD gives to the radio before games are anything to go by we shouldn't let him anywhere near the dressing room before the game.
Maybe we should let JR do the motivational talk to the lads before the games?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but before the season started, did he not comment that the current crop of players or the current squad weren't as good as last season ?

Way to get behind the team eh ? Would really want to make me play for him would that.....

Bragging rights is for the fans.  Do you really believe it matters to footballers?

What the players need is confidence.

They are adults and they are professional footballers, it's not primary school and we don't need a teacher shouting at them or writing their name on the board if they perform poorly. We have good footballers, the manager's job is to give them the confidence to go out and express that to the best of their ability. Nobody can argue with the fact that we didn't do that on Saturday, but in the games prior to that we have had a real go at much bigger and better teams.

Too many people can't see the wood for the trees.

Brighton - on the crest of a wave and spent multiple millions this summer. Now sitting near the top of the league
West Ham - do we need to spell it out?
Nottingham Forest - expensively assembled squad amongst the favourites for promotion
Derby - spent lots in the summer, full of confidence, won 4 out of 4 now

Doncaster Rovers (for those that seem unable to grasp the simple concept) - smallest budget in the division, 10 players out with injuries including top goalscorer, second top scorer, on Saturday the third top scorer, captain.....

Just think about it! Did you expect this season to be easy? Did you expect we wouldn't lose games? Do you think playing without 10 key players, several of whom are key first teamers would not affect us? Just try and think a bit further than simply \"sack him.\" It's a brainless and thoughtless response to the current situation.

Another diabolical thread started. Never thought I would agree much with Norfolk N'Chance but the point about the fun and enjoyment being lost is a fair one. Too many idiots that moan at everything, have nothing constructive to say, seem only happy if they are compaining and fail to see what a difficult situation we are in.

Well said Jonathan and a good summary , perhaps some of our 'so called' fans ought to be sat in the North Stand tomorrow.
This fookin negativity and griping is pissing me off.
:rtid: not just for the win!
