They think it's all over
« on September 23, 2011, 08:03:00 am by GallagherLad »
Don't post on here much - I used to, but I couldn't stand the bull anymore.

Any organisation needs leadership.  DRFC were under the stewardship of JR - but clearly he has been over-ruled by other shareholders.  Hence the statement (shareholders, not Board)

Someone wants to change something and I dont think JRs pockets were deep enough, enter the other shareholders.  Maybe JR was happy to listen to Sean and to be frugal for long term survival - maybe the other shareholders have a similar mentality to some of the posters on here.  We want it now, the X Factor generation.

Some people on here couldnt build a bonfire, nevermind a football club.  No one likes a commentator

We are now on our way down, which may involve spending money we can't afford to survive, which will compound the problem in 2 years time.

Keep the week including Friday 8th June free bud! Wedding bells and all that!
We'll see what happens with DRFC now - could be interesting - hope it proves a good decision!

So GallagherLad, you think we are on the way down nice to see you give Saunders a chance before a ball is kicked.  As much as SOD did for this club a manger who has gone 19 games without a win has to go does not matter who they are or what they have done in the past.  Maybe the other board members just had to take JR's rose tinted glasses off for him to see that.

Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't read \"we're going down\" as a dig at Saunders or even a suggestion that we're getting relegated this season. More a fear that we have joined the band of clubs that react in certain ways and throw money at problems beyond our means.

Sacking SO'D won't have come cheap, Saunders must surely have been promised financial backing in the market to bring him here at 5 hours notice (if you believe that). I think the original poster is referring to the fact that SO'D promoted a sustainable business model. Suggestions are now afoot that other directors would not put money in unless they got their man in charge.

Maybe we'll throw a bit of money at it now, perhaps it'll work for a while but for a club the size of ours in a division the size of this it always carries a risk, particularly if we have a season where we ultimately achieve a league position relative to our baseline. I think that's what the original poster meant by heading down, a longer term fear rather than that of short term relegation.

I'm still quite shocked about the whole thing, and yes, it remains to be seen if this was a wise decision, but I am going to give my total support to Saunders and the team and I'm most definitely NOT joining the total doom and gloom merchants that have come out of the woodwork since yesterday morning.

How anyone can predict a massive fall from grace (here and in many other threads) without a single game having been played is staggering, and, frankly, pathetic. No-one knows for sure what has transpired and all the rumours are just that - rumours.

Right now we should all keep our faith in JR (when has he ever let us down?!), get together and think positively!

Gallagherlad is without a doubt talking from a business point of view! And his fears will be/are that the business is going down the pan as it looks like the 'Boss' may have been overruled by shareholders and other Board Members and that's a recipe for disaster that could cost us long term - and believe me Gallagherlad knows business!

I don't think he was necessarily referring to the team or slagging Saunders off before a ball has been kicked more a worry for the business side of DRFC!

Yes, but as I said - none of us knows what has happened, so in the absence of cast iron facts we have to look to the future with the club. If JR should make negative noises about what has happened then that is a different matter. That being said, he sounds relatively happy right now, so I am not going to worry too much about it and I think others need to trust JR and give their support as we ordinarily would.

Which is why we haven't actually done that. He's on \"gardening leave\" until his contract is out, so we don't have to worry about paying up immediately.
