A true captains performance from George today at left back, lead by example and man of the match by a country mile!

Yes and did you see him after the final whistle, came over and clapped all the fans, one of the few players we have that could get a game in any other Championship side.

GF did play well. Struggled a bit with Zaha's pace, but kept going and started to win the battles eventually.

MOM was Stock for me though. Thought he was superb protecting the back four.

That's how I saw it VJ. When I heard he was playing at left back today I was a little concerned, and nothing happened to change that for the first 10 minutes or so, but as the game wore on he seemed to readjust to being out wide left again.

Friend didn't have the pace but he had the strength and nous to stop Zaha.

Forget Billy's reception, Friend at the end in front of the South stand probably got the best reception in a long time, a second fans favourite he is.

As soon as the full time whistle went Friend turned to the east stand and looked like a kid on christmas morning. I've never seen a player as happy and came right up to the fans and celebrated with us. What a player. What a captain.

Friend also came right up to the South with the biggest smile on his face I've seen for a long time at football.

Quality display, perfect material for a skipper.

Martis made some crucial challenges today and at one point was there was a session of head tennis, it was Martis who chested it down and brought some order to the proceedings.

As said above, Friend concerned me at full back and, he had his work cut at times today but showed a lot of bottle and mental toughness. Well played.

Stock got better as the game went on and he did exactly what we need of him. He shielded the back four and in the second half put one hell of a tackle in and came out with the ball.

Lalkovic gave us more spark and what a reception for Billy. I've never seen or heard that kind of reception for a player coming on.

Onwards and upwards.

Still got a buzz going about the match, although maybe that was the three pints of Timmy Taylor's I've just had as well.

Friend was my MOTM too, I saw him make one error all game and even that he managed to recover.  But all the defence played well, with a special mention for Martis.

Friend is a credit to the club, great attitude and improving all the time. So glad we got him on a longer term contract, he is the future here and fully deserving of the captaincy. Win or lose, he's always the last off the pitch and makes a point of applauding all the fans which I think means a lot to people.

Still not sure I'd like to see him at left back in the long term but, given the injury to Spurr, that's what may happen unless we have the money to bring in another full back. Personally I'd prefer him at centre half but needs must. Now we're getting players like Martis back too, at least we have a few more options with the defence.

With Chambers still out for the moment, then we could play either Mussy or JOC in the LB slot, if George returns to the middle.

If the rumour that Spurr is out for up to 5 months is right, then Chambers must be back in before that.

I think Naylor must be near the end of his short term deal, so the defensive options depend in part if Saunders gives him an extension.

Got to be Friend for MOM for me too did everything you could ask of him in my opinion, he cam over to West Stan clapping too (when walking off the pitch) and was beaming.

Also thought Martis had a good game, Stock was on form and it's brilliant to see him back to his usual self.

... Wonder whether the early substitution for Copps migh now give him a much needed kick up the arse.

Anyway, 3 points more than welcome. Cheers Deano! :scarf:

Just re watched our bit on football league show, when the players are walking back into the changing room they are all smiling but George is buzzing, looking at the camera, clapping his hands, laughing looks like a kid on xmas morning.
