Get down tonight
« on September 27, 2011, 12:46:46 pm by big fat yorkshire pudding »
Ticket sales in home areas aren't that great but with no football down at the Keepmoar for a while after tonight, why not get down there and hopefully see some exciting football......

The club has been decisive on the footballing side, now it has to be more decisive and get the fanbase back up to where it should and could be.

I wanted to go but I decided that buying food edged it in terms of importance this week.

Hopefully it'll be on radio sheff (?)

b*llocks to food, 3 points is worth a weeks starvation for the family

Just meant as a positive with a slight dig at the club for not making all games more attractive.

The club is going to have to be more decisive with ticket prices if they want better gates.

I am a die hard Rovers fan, similar to most, but heartbreakingly couldn't afford a season ticket this year due to a price-hike to £450 from £120... worse still is the fact that I wasn't even 21 when I went to get my season ticket day of early-bird release, I would just be '21 before september'.

Couple this with the fact that I am a full-time student commuting to Leeds Met and I will probably now be without a season ticket until I start back at full time work.

(Cue the banter for being a student) :coat:

Its more about facing the realities of life as an adult. You'll be suggesting santa isn't real next. Evening bar work should sort it for you.

It is about the realities of being an adult, but removing the student ticket and replacing with the 16-21 whilst in principal wasn't a bad idea, it did make it difficult for students.  I was 22 when I graduated as many who do 4 year courses straight from school are and as most will testify the poorest year at uni is the last and that for me was still a student ST.  I couldn't have afforded it at full price when I was still at uni that's for sure.  I personally believe full time students should be included in the concession rate because a full time student at 22 will have much less than a 17 year old working.  We shouldn't penalise people for studying as naturally these people are likely to be the future guys with a bit more money and thus inevitably spending more on the club in the future.

My argument exactly when I was in my early twenties.

Ripening to middle age, however, I say, if they want to go to the football, make the buggers get a job like everybody else!  Now I know how Benaldo feels.

And before our hard-pressed student contingent start, let me say that anybody claiming that university (e.g. Leeds) or pretend uni/poly/college (e.g. Leeds Met) is anywhere NEAR as hard as working properly for a living, is either 1. lying or 2. thick.

Kindest regards,

Would this perhaps be a good time to raise the idea of giving discounts for students with an NUS card? especially given the current economic climate, and that the students of the future will be paying thousands more

You'll be amazed at the amount of graduates who come to work at our place and know fu*k all compared to those who've been in the role for years...and yet they get paid a comparitive salary straight away.

Five years down the line I know various Graduates where I work who are as thick as pig sh*t and yet take a nice inflated pay packet home.

Speaking as a graduate - it didn't honestly help me in my life - I think all students should be forced to wear bells around their necks on arrival at the footy. Then when they go for their half time burger, they should be made to eat it.

Mrs4475 and I will be there tonight for the first time this season as it's the first game we're available to attend and we're really looking forward to it, especially after Saturday's result! Come on Reds - grab another point or three!

Not sure if you've realised, but there's not that many jobs going around at the moment. People seem to have the idea that everybody without a job is a useless waster who wants to be on benefits to the day they die. In reality, things aren't so simple.

Youth unemployment is nudging 1 million, and rose by nearly 80,000 over summer alone - the majority of these coming straight out of schools and university to find no job.

People want to work, there's just a severe lack of jobs.

Oh don't worry, Doncaster have had a fair share of my income over the past 21 years, even from a youg age. I've had a season ticket as long as I can remember and I am genuinely disappointed that I haven't got one this year, but, being my final year of uni, I agree and it has admittedly been my poorest...

In my defence though, not all students are work-dodgers; personally I'm not work-shy and worked and volunteered as soon as I could, up until university (when I still volunteer), whereas now a vast majority of my time is spent studying in the hope of becoming a primary school teacher.

I also agree with the notion that many people with degrees do go into work places knowing nothing about the work, as there is nothing more valuable that first-hand experience. Unfortunately it seems, I need this degree in order to work as a teacher so this is inevitably the way forward.

Rovers WILL be getting my money again soon though, rest assured; I've also donated towards the loan striker appeal with all I could afford at the time, in the hopes of seeing my beloved Rovers beat the fall once more.
