For those wanting somewhere closer to the ground you could try this.

http://www.oakhamales.com/charters/welcome.asp

It is less than 5 mins from the ground, real ales, large beer garden(it's going to be nice this Saturday)

I've always used this place when we've played Posh, the natives are quite tame, verging on really friendly.

That looks an even better bet than the one near the station. Thanks for the tip.

After nearly two hours on the train I'll probably be ready for a stretch of the legs and a leisurely stroll across the bridge will help work up a thirst and an appetite.

Just spoke to Charters...Yes they look forward to greeting the VSC summit conference from 1.00 pm onwards.

As you'd expect with the VSC, Sky TV will be there on hand to escalate all rumours and use Sky sources to flavour our burgers and chips....tho' as you can see from my latest photo above...my body is a temple these days.....

Spoke to Max Clifford this morning who says my contract allows photos in pubs and restaurants...so bring your cameras !....and non VSC folk...bring some cash!
Only 'half full - not half empty' optimists will be admitted - naturally !
God what am I on this morning????
Cheers, Gareth

Am I the only person who finds it slightly suspicious that the person who suggested Charters did so in his very first post?! That said, it looks pretty good, got my vote.

Take a bow manager of Charters, your tills are going to be full tomorrow!

I am not the manager of Charters, I don't live anywhere near Peterborough.

I saw this thread about finding somewhere for a drink so I thought I'd tell the ones who wanted to be near the ground where this place is.

I've been a Donny fan since the early 60s and often read this forum although I am usually on another one.  If you go to www.extra-time.co.uk you will see from my profile that I am a Donny fan.  If you want any banter with Posh fans you will also find many of them on there.

Check your facts before making assumptions

Ok, maybe we need to resurrect the Viking helmets to help those who are 'tonsorially challenged'
I will ask Kirk Douglas where he bought that load for his mates a while ago......

Good suggestion from Spike.

My only concern is that there has been an unhealthy amount of talk about bumming on this thread, given that Charters is in fact a boat.

No worries..we are Vikings !....
Remember the good ole days when we used them there longships ?...All that rape n pillage n plunder etc....
I had too many headaches for the rape bit...just went and focussed on the plunder...3 points here, 3 points there....you know the kind of thing !

Lucky!

On a more mundane note, has anybody else got tickets in the Family (South) Stand?

Is this soiree going to be held inside or outside? Not many Rovers here yet. I'm wearing a hat. Come and say hello!

Donny fans...There were loads outside and loads inside and I couldn't see any bumming. I even went to the toilets at the stern and still couldn't see any bumming.

Did anybody else see any bumming?
Was anybody bummed?
Was anybody the bummer?

I think it's a big shame if we all wasted this opportunity

Negative on all counts I'm afraid. Not even a hint.

Is there anything worth reporting from the meeting - other than who or who didn't get bummed?

Can anyone share what was said at the meeting for those who never made it to the pub in time?

Even if its in the rumour mill?

So there wasn't much worth say at this meeting then - or have I missed it?

Listen boys, what happened in The Charters stays in The Charters.......just leave it, let it go eh.

One or two of the lads had their spirit taken away that fateful afternoon, and no sign of any butter anywhere. Put a blood orange and a battered squid in a blender together and you'll start to see the bigger picture.
