Pubs v Premier League

Interesting piece on BBC Sport involving TV rights, European law, the cost of Sky subscriptions and the amounts paid to Premier League clubs and players:

There`ll be some very unhappy people at Sky and The Premier league today, the landlady has won her court case!

If its the first nail in the coffin for Sky then thats a good thing.

Who anyone sane hands over their hard earned to Murdoch, his cronies, and a corporation that has reulted in Football finances being totally out of control is beyond me.

My misses ran a pub in ilkeston, and sky wanted £968 PER MONTH for the sky sports package!! She made enquirys and had VIASAT installed, a Scandanavian network. With the case ongoing, all the solicitors said to use a european network, but not one of the middle east stations, as they are illegal. It cost £2000 for the system, the box, and a year subscribition. Had every sky and espn game, although some were in foriegn. Also had interesting movies on in the evening!! AYE!!!

Looks good value for pubs and clubs, a lot cheaper than what Sky want the pubs and clubs to pay

I'm sane thanks and I pay because I choose to. There is almost nothing I want to watch on Terrestrial TV anymore. I could quite happily watch satelite TV channels all days and never switch 'normal' tv on again...it's sh!te !
