Is anyone concerned?
« on October 03, 2011, 07:42:03 pm by donnygreenjeans »
I might be the only one but i'm getting concerned by the players we are getting in on short term contracts as they will be taking the places of some regular first team players who are doing a good job at the moment and i'm guessing they wont be happy if their place is taken.
As we have signed ilunga on a short term contract (and i'm pretty sure) he will take george friend's position, now george friend IMO is playing good football and he is not going to be pleased if he is dropped and i can't see him being moved into central defence as who would he replace as IMO both Naylor and Martis are playing good aswell, which leads me on to whose place does Chimbonda take as i can't see chimbonda or the short term players be happy sitting on the bench when they are only here for a short period.

We are after two strikers as well and their names have been mentioned on this forum, i did post last week that we were after a left back and two strikers, if we sign the two strikers then billy sharp's place will be under threat.

Sharps place will never be under threat and Saunders has already mentioned he'd like to try Friend in midfield. 7 points in 9 games let him get on with it

That's the whole point though, it should make the current players give that extra 10% to keep hold of their place because let's face it, some had it easy under SO'D. What Deano shouldn't do though is start these new players until they have earned the right to start.

It wouldn't be good management to drop players without due cause. Deano will surely know this.

I think Mason could count himself as unlucky not to even get on the bench for the last two games as I think he's one player that can drive us forward and link the midfield to the attack better. if he's sticking to the team that's got 7 points from 9 however, then no one can argue with that.

There will come a point when the new player(s) will get a chance, possibly from the bench and the rest will be down to them. If the bar is raised then it's up to each individual to respond.

What happens to the players on short contracts in January is in the lap of the gods. Same with longer contracted players who Saunders may see as surplus to requirements.

What we don't want is the Johnny come lately's to disappear as quick as they came in and leave us with a handful of dischuffed players causing disharmony in the camp.

Why an earth would DS want to try our most in-form defender over the past calender year in midfield? Centre half or left back our his ideal positions, I just cannot see him in midfield. Not even John Terry or Rio Ferdinand should take George's place in the team at the moment.

The big question for me is, has Dean Saunders identified the positions he needs to strengthen ans then gone out and found the players he wants to strengthen those positions, or has he been offered these players?
