Looks like Derek McInnes (St Johnstone) will be appointed the Bristol City manager in the near future.

SO'D is still in the frame for Portsmouth and the local press had a story that he was being interviewed today. Would be ironic if his first game was Saturday!

If we are still paying Sean, then compensation will have to sorted if he gets the job. So Saturday might be to early maybe.

Not sure everyone agrees though. RoversAlias said \"It isn't ironic in the slightest.\"

Now that is irony

But is it ironic?

The fact his first game might be against us doesn't strike me as ironic, merely coincidental.

However, if he won then that could be argued to be ironic: a manager sacked for not being able to win wins his first game with a new club against the club with whom he could not win.

It's a quirk of fate rather than irony.

You'll never guess what I was about to post in here then will you?

LJ is right though...it'd be coincidental, certainly. It wouldn't be ironic, people misuse the word so often. Not that it really matters, this is a football forum, not an English Language Debate forum! :P
