The \"Loyal Supporters\" chant..
« on November 06, 2011, 08:21:03 am by GazLaz »
Peplel were doing it again yesterday. It's cringeworthy and makes us sound a joke outfit, like we are having a pop at people that aren't there. Pat the team on the back not yourselves.

We have always sang loyal supporters.
Not quite sure what your problem is.

I don't get what your problem is with it? Traveling to Ipswich at them prices, been bottom of the league as well as going through a bad patch It surely does make you loyal. Not having a dig at anyone, just proving a point that we are loyal for going...

Most of these \"loyal supporter\" chanters are probably below 20 years of age, not married, have no kids or commitments and still live with their parents paying little or no board, they`ll grow up one day, when they`ve got to put food on the table, pay bills and save for Christmas! :chair:

Our group didn't go yesterday for the first time in years. most know us we have a drum and flags etc. We've utravelled together since we were kids on supporters coaches etc. But now we just cannot justify spending that much even though we all wanted to go, it was Ipswich or barnsley for us, 61 quid alone in tickets for those two games.

Doesn't make us less loyal we all listened to the game.

It's just a w**k chant. Sing about the team not yourself. We all know you are loyal, you're as dedecated as they come, you don't need to keep telling everyone though.

Hits the nail on the head. It's great for Frosty who can afford all the away matches to spout on about loyalty, but sometimes there's things more important than football. If I don't have £30 to spare for a match, then I can't go. Our league position ain't gonna change that.

I suggest you re-read my posts. I never once mentioned loyality, and obviously you didn't understand my point.

Just going to point out that 'loyality' is not actually a word.

I wasn't keen on some of the chants yesterday, I know a lot were just taking the piss out of ourselves and having the pub team mentality that we used to all love, but singing '3-1 to the shit support'... not sure about that one, not when people have spent a lot of money travelling down etc...

I think the only times I have sung it is in the closing minutes of a match where people decide to leave, maybe deciding to go home early doesn't make you any less of a fan, maybe it does I don't wanna start that old arguement up. But usually if its sung at an away game it's usually towards the home fans, I remember Ipswich in 2009 where we won 3-1 singing \"what's it like to see support?\" but I don't think its aimed at the unfortunates that couldn't get to the match.

I think it will take another 10 years before our support could be classed as pretty good and the gap left by the lost generation (people my age) is filled. For a good rowdy vocal support you need a large number of people aged between 20 and 35 who have had a few pints. Majority of our fans are too old or too young.

And thats where the 'banter' is going from football!

Just like the bloke who got kicked out at Portsmouth for having 'banter' with the home fans!

Although some fans don't like fans in that age group (of which I'm one at 24) as some have said we can be too rowdy.  OF course when we're out in Sheffield pre Barnsley and no doubt pretty drunk by the time we get to the game I'm sure we'll still have the odd respectable sing song :woot:

Yep, of course :woot: :scarf:

Also, about these fans (I'm 23) we are the next generation and our kids WILL be Rovers fans! Can only be good for the club!

Oh dear lord Jenny, if you miss the humour in that statement bet you find Russel Howard funny

I wasn't at the game, but that sounds to me like an ironic response to a \"your support is f**king shit\" chant that opposition fans aim at the away end. Makes sense to me and is fairly clever, a lot more clever than that \"bounce around the ground\" rubbish anyway...

But I do like Russell Howard!
