A source would be good to back this up, hasn't he just come back from a major injury? He is hardly gonna be fit.

It is the Daily Mail though, someone over there has probably heard Deano was at the game, and made up the story from that. I found it after typing greeny's name into google news. Would be great to see him back in hoops though.

He was immense for us for the last half of the last season with us and it was a real blow to lose him at that point. I'd love to see him back in the hoops if he's fit.

would love to see him back. I still remember his best ever goal at Millwall. This could be DS's most popular signing if he can pull it off.

I was recently told that Paul Green did not butter Nigel Clough's parsnips. So I hope there maybe some truth in this. Would love to see the lad back.

Always one if my favourite rivers players who was the only one to improve as quickly as the club progressed. Come on Paul, you know it makes sense!!!

I don't want to sound like I'm raining on everyone's parade but:

1. He's just come back from a serious injury, so may not be the same player he was.
2. How many players have come back for a second spell at Donny and been as good or better than their first? (A good quiz question, that one)
3. Wages. He must be on a fair whack at Derby- after all, we couldn't match what they offered him in 2008. And we're supposed to be cutting the wage bill.

That said, a loan spell from now till after Christmas could make sense for all concerned.

Fair points and that is a very good question

I would put forward King Alick but as lots will say (older than me) he was borderg on becoming a Top tier player and international in his first spell so I cant get away with him

He was great in his second spell so must have been unbelievable in the first one !

I was a bit too young for Alan Warboys's first spell, but he was a towering mester when he returned, and fundamental to Bremner's first success.

David Harle got better every time he came back.

And Duggie was just good old dependable Duggie either side of his move to the Darkness.

Funnily enough, Warboys and Harle were two of the names I came up with. Harle had three spells. His second was for me by some distance his best. In both cases they hadn't reached their full potential when they left Rovers the first time.

Duggie- well, he was almost two different players. A hard working striker in his first and a dependable defender in his second.

Another one to throw in the mix if we're counting loan players- Mark Wilson. Absolutely gash when he was here the first time, but on his return a solid, dependable pro.

Laurie was considerably worse second time around - mind you he had a lot to live up to.

Maybe King Alick - but then he also had a lot to live up to

Albert 'Yogi' Broadbent I think was better second time round, and also Graham 'Willie' Watson

More recently surely the best ever second time round player was Tim Ryan?

P.S. Back to the original point of the thread - would love to see Greeny back - and also become the first player to play league football for Rovers at 4 levels.

Loved seeing Greeny playing in the hooped shirt, Yes he has come back from injury but would still do a job for us.
