McKay....but read on
« on November 24, 2011, 08:39:04 am by Chris Black come back »
Can't say I am altogether convinced yet about the new strategy or Saunders as a manager, but to be fair to McKay he has delivered what he said he would.

We have a Premiership level defence and a world class striker up front. If he has delivered all these on the promised 2k per week then fair do's.

Wait to see what this will produce and the overall effect on team morale but for McKay to get all these to come here on absolute peanuts when we are rock bottom of the Championship is no mean feat. This guy must be some silver tongued mofo.

Also, reckon King Herold will be tallest midfielder we have had since John Doolan.

When I saw the 'read on' bit, I thought it was going to be something exciting, but yet again it's just someone giving their opinion on the fat Glaswegian Monopoly man, but in a different titled thread! I bet Willie loves this attention really you know! His ego must be as big as his belly!

P.S

FAO moderators,
Please could we have a new section of the forum, for everyone wanting to write pointless, needless topics on McKay?

I wonder if the people that have a go at the current strategy would have been so vociferous if SOD accepted the plan, and nothing was said about Mckay`s involvement, my guess is that SOD would have been hailed a genius by unearthing these out of contract players and loans with players not getting a look in at their parent club! In fact, if Mckay`s name had n`t been mentioned then not as many would have been against it, remember Mckay was cleared of any wrong doing, some of you lot on here would have him hung drawn and quartered on newspaper gossip alone!

I try not to get involved in any arguments whatsoever about SO'D, Saunders and McKay!

The main point of my post was the last bit towards the moderators.

FAO moderators,
Please could we have a new section of the forum, for everyone wanting to write pointless, needless topics on McKay?

Although I tend to agree with the majority of your post, our defence is far from Premiership standard.

I would ask why we are bottom of the league with all these players on our books, but it's not McKay's fault is it, its either the players of the manager...

You were the first person in the thread to mention O'Driscoll. There's more posts telling people to stop talking about O'Driscoll than the number of posts by people actually talking about O'Driscoll.

Smart.

Maybe we should arrange a friendly vs a fair to middling Premiership team?....lets say Everton...with our 'Premiership Level Defence' and 'World Class Striker' we should cause them all sorts of problems?!? ;)

I deliberately said Premiership \"level\" rather than \"standard\". Ikeme, Ilunga, Beye and Chimbonda are all either with Premiership clubs or have just left them.

They are, whether you like it or not, therefore Premiership level.

If they were premiership standard then thats where they'd be playing, as it happens they are playing for a team rock bottom of the championship. Out of them you named, only Ikeme will play in the premier league again.

The word I think you were struggling for is WERE rather than ARE.

That they once played in the Premiership is beyond doubt. So did Norman Whiteside and Alan Shearer. But that doesn't mean they are Premiership level players today.

The fact that these players are out of favour and on display in our 'shop window' casts a shadow over your rather bold insistence. We can only hope they deliver because if they don't our league position is hardly likely to improve a great deal.

I am making no statement on how they have performed for us, but Ikeme, Ilunga and Beye have all played in the Premier League over the past 12 months.

Question: before this lot, when was the last time we had a player on loan who had played in the Premier League in the previous 12 months before joining us?

Exactly.
