How much of a loss wil this be to us, he was just starting to forge a exciting partnership with Billy. Plus how many strikers do we need to bring in to the squad in January ????

Given that a player can`t be recalled in the first 28 days of a loan, then this is against the loan rules and could n`t play tomorrow as a result he`s only been with us 26 days!

Bad news.
Is Diouf fit yet? I hope Saunders has got some others to bring in in January, especially if we lose Sharp and Diouf.

Also does nothing for us in terms of trying to get a settled team together. This will be one of the sticking points of our current policy i'm afraid, players here for a few weeks then moving on or going back.

ALBION have recalled George Thorne, Gonzalo Jara Reyes and Marc-Antoine Fortune from their Championship loan spells ahead of Wednesday's trip to Newcastle (ko 7.45pm).

Roy Hodgson has injury concerns following Saturday's 2-1 win at Blackburn and the returning trio will increase his options for the St James' Park game
and the busy festive fixture schedule.

Thorne has been on loan at Portsmouth, Jara Reyes at Brighton and Fortune at Doncaster.

their next game is Tomorrow night, Under loan rules Fortune would not be available for selection until Friday

It's not the worst timing in the world with Dioufy being nearly fit. Would have liked to see Fortune, Sharp, Dioufy and Copps as a front 4 though.

Hodgson obviously wants him back so he can train with them this week and be available for Boxing Day.

Just hope Villa don't do the same with Beye, although I think he's further down their pecking order.

The cynic in me tells me that this was always West Broms intention, regardless of the length of loan agreed, they wanted him match fit for the Christmas period!

At least it solves the problem of who to drop as Diouffy says he will be fit for the next game (glass half full)
Massive shame to loose Fortune

Anyone remember that bloke called James Hayter? I wouldn't be against seeing him have a run out.

I guess this 'll be the problem with the shop window. We'll get a player in just starting to gel, partnerships happening and shazzam he's gone.

On the contrary, i often describe Hayter as a less talented, Slow, 13 year old Anglo-European descended version of Fortune
'
In all honesty, Hayter is a good League 1 player, who hasnt and sadly never will be threatening at this level, something fortune gave us in spades.

I think most of the \"shop window\" players will be so far down the pecking order at their clubs that short of an outbreak of bubonic plague there's no chance of them being recalled. Fortune (like Ikeme) was more of your conventional loan- although in Fortune's case we probably got him for lower wages than we would otherwise.

But it is a concern- along with the one I have that we might have almost a completely different team/ squad by the end of January.

Depends what you mean by threatening. He won't be a prolific goalscorer, but he's provided lots of bullets for Sharp to fire in his time.

And let's not forget, he is prone to a random run of very good goalscoring form. Not as long as we'd like, but still. Hayter is underrated - not saying he's up there with the best in this league, but we miss him more than people realise (at the beginning of the season? he'd have ran for Brown's flicks all day).

Effort is good to see but the difference in class between Fortune and Hayter is poles apart. He'l be a loss. Big loss.

His loan should officially end tomorrow a loan has to be 28 days minimum before a player can be recalled, that should make him ineligible for selection tonight!

FWIW the official rules state;

Clubs may mutually agree, if they so wish, to include a recall
clause in the agreement to enable the Club for whom the Player was originally registered to
recall the Player at any time during the loan period. Players, other than goalkeepers, may
NOT be recalled within the first month (i.e. 28 days) of any loan period.
