Have the BBC wasted all their money on Formula One?

Eh? Sky now has the majority of the F1 rights after outbidding the BBC so I dont understand where you get that idea from?

Maybe if they dumped the wall to waal Wimbledon coverage, and cut back and the over blown Olympic spectacle this coming summer they'd have money to spare to cover the National Game.

We live in a country where it's ok to just decided to double the money spent on a) The Olympic opening parade/closing paradce....and b) The security needed to stop the people whose tents, caves, and families we've been blowing up for the past ten years getting their own back!

It's absolutely crazy....... Every single household pays £100 a year (I don't, but I can't get a tv signal where I live) to the BBC and what do we get......coverage of the countries most followed sport? Nope.....wimbledon and watching little men cheating at whipping horses down a long lawn. It's rubbish.

It's neither. I can only receive about 2 channels, so I don't ever watch live television, either through the tv or via the internet. I have a BT television system that is \"on demand\" so it's never live. I didn't know I never needed to pay until I rang them up to talk about changing my address and happened to say that I can't get any tv anyway because of where I live.

Basically they register you as not watching live television then are free to check up on you when they like. As My tv isn't even tuned in or plugged in to an aerial or satellite dish, so can't receive a live signal (ie I don't watch live tv at my house ever) I don't have to pay the licence fee.

Once again benaldo you make comments about something you have no right to comment on. You make no payment for tv yet feel you can criticise the service provided.
Not sure whether this beats blaming stock for the millwall penalty while looking at \"BBC\" teletext, while sat at home.

Have you not had the letters threatening to take you to court? I'm currently living in student accommodation and even though none of us are able to view live television we've all had some pretty snotty letters!

Slightly off topic I know but you can watch live TV without a licence on a laptop via a tuner card or usb dongle and arial socket PROVIDED the laptop is running on battery power. The minute you plug your laptop into the mains and watch live TV using an external power source you require a TV licence. Absolutely crazy situation regarding the licencing laws. It states this on the back of a licence.

I got one, then when I rang them again to say that I don't watch live tv they ummed and errrdd a bit then finally told me it was a mistake as they hadn't put me on \"the database\" for not requiring a licence. According to them, as long as you don't watch live tv or record live tv on a television or computer (nothing about how it's plugged in makes any difference), you do not require a tv licence.

And to andysly..... you're like a dose of piles. The stuff we're going on about is probably the main reason why I decided to not watch live tv or pay into Murdochs evil empire. The \"bbc\" thing you refer to was the sports website....not classed as live tv funnily enough.

In what way like a dose of piles.
Irritating because you're a self righteous arse.
I'm also pretty sure the website will be subsidised by us licence fee payees. So you carry on freeloading and pontificating on how they should spend my money.

For the record the BBC has been getting priced out of sport for years now. And even though the all-knowing Benaldo mentioned them showing little men whipping horses down a lawn which I presume refers to horse racing they have barely got any left. Grand national and Epsom derby maybe rest on channel 4.

Recognise this quote Benaldo? \"The bad posters who are turning a good forum into a pile of poo are the ones whose best and only arguments consist of \"you're a c***\" or \"f*** off you w*****\". \"

Thought I'd keep you  up to date as you appear to be in some time warp where bbc had sport on tv.
Shame you missed other points I made to you.
As for my life I wouldn't swap it for yours you seem to have real issues.

It was never a great show. To be honest when Lizzie read out an email from a Doncaster fan she was branded a devil-worshipping hussy and thrown out of TV work forever (I believe she now works in argos behind the conveyor belt with the Magical Elves!!).

This season the F.L. Show gave us a long(ish) coverage on DS's first game in charge, sadly this was the nail in their coffin. It is well covered in ancient transcripts and readings that if you flirt with the devil, he will let himself be known. On this occasion he took the cameo-form of Micky Walker. Their was NO WAY the Beeb was going to come under fire from the church/vatican, so it's broadcasting is ending!

... AND it's shite!!!

Not sure if a few of you guys know or not, but if you're not a big tv viewer then you don't have to buy the license and still be able to watch it all streamed online.

There are one or two sites now that stream any channel one second after it's digitally broadcast, meaning that the tv license isn't needed. I was on a Princes Trust course and people were chatting about how to save money while you grow your business.

Just make sure you've got a decent internet capacity and hey presto, you don't really need a tv :)
