Good safe hands and excellent distribution a couple of hesitant moments but I put that down to not knowing any of the team.

As soon as the final whistle was blown joc ran to Button and they hi-fived and gave each other a good hug, that must have been through total respect for each others roles that they played in the game.

He was excellent. Made a couple of smart saves at the near post where he had to get down quickly, and generally commanded the area and positioned himself very well.

I remember saying all that about Jan Budtz, though. Lets see how young Button gets on over the next few games, but the signs are promising.

I thought he did great, pulled off a couple of good saves in the second half too.

By the way ;the real Jim Dobbin was co commentator on the match for Barnsley player yesterday. If you heard his bias you might choose to select the guise of a different ex Rover.I too enjoyed his spell at Rovers in the Bremner era though.
as for Button ..  I  think Saunders has excelled in getting us such quality keepers , three times this season and  must have good contacts beyond the McKay channels.

I have to admit when i read his pedigree and who he had been on loan with,i cant say i was to excited but i couldnt fault him yesterday.I know he didn't have that much to do but there was an air of confidence about him...
Which tbh we need know as Wood's confidence will be shot,he knows without any doubt that Deano doesnt fancy him as he has been given a few chances but replaced at the earliest opportunity...I fear this lad's doesn't have a future here now longterm..

He really impressed me yesterday. I have a friend who's a Crewe fan and I saw Button a few times when he was at Crewe on loan and to say he was bad would be an understatement. So when I saw we'd signed him I wasn't very confident but yesterday he proved how a keeper can improve over time and putting the hard work and making mistakes elsewhere (like Saunders is trying to do with Woods) can help a young keep become a very good keeper.
Well played Button, looked very solid.
Well players Saunders, continuing bringing in good quality goalkeepers.

Deano did reiterate that they see Woods as a long term prospect on his BBC interview (nearly 10 minutes very interesting).
They want to get Woods out on loan and let him learn and make his mistakes somewhere else...
But you are right he can't be under any illusions, that in his current form, he will play regularly for Rovers.

The bloke obviously has a foot in both camps, Brian, and naturally so.  If it's Barnsley that's asked him to do a commentary job I can understand it.  Having to put up with some of the grief he got in the Richardson-Weaver era during his second spell can't have been much fun either.  Nonetheless, a Rovers great in my book.  He nearly got one in the FA Cup against Everton as you may well remember, an at-his-peak Southall turning a low shot round the corner that many other keepers wouldn't have got to.
