BBC sport website changes

Is it me or is this just change for changes sake? Looks crap and is far, far less user friendly. Proper bobbins.

Truthfully I thought it was pants at first but now I've been on it a while and have gotten somewhat used to it I don't think it's all that bad. I do agree that it wasn't necessary though, but that's what happens with major websites....a full re-design when whoever runs the show decides it's starting to look a bit dated.

Didn't like it when introduced, couldn't find what I usually read, Rovers v Hull not on till later in the day when others already on etc.. However as I get used to it, not all that bothered as long as I can find the Rovers news etc.

You're bang on OP, really feels like change for changes sake and it is so much worse on every level.

Everyone get regisgtering their complaints in the survey bit they've provided for feedback on it, only takes two minutes and if enough people tell them how it is maybe they'll realise!

Think it looks shite too.........bring back the old one Beeb. Change for changes sake is a waste of both time and money.

I don't mind it to be honest. I like the match details when a match is on, they've obviously spent a lot of time on it.

Being a developer myself it won't get put back to how it used to be when they've invested so much in it.

I don't like it either. It was perfectly good before.

Among other things, where is the live vidiprinter? If it' s there it's not easy to find

Big  from me

Agreed Dutch. I couldn't find the vidiprinter either and I used to think it was one of their best features. I guess I'll have to use the Sky Sports one now.

The design is simply awful.

I don't like it, even more emphasis on Prem, and have got rid of the videprinter which I used to use when listening to Player. A real faf to get what you want out of it.

I have a mixed opinion, while the old site was not under any real scrutiny I didn't think there was a need for change and that was my first impression when visiting the site.

However it has been made so much easier for touch screen users, the old site was really awkard unless you had the fingers of 3 month old, and it is now easier to use than the Sky Sports page, so while you could argue about the need for change maybe they were looking at the future with this one, when Windows will next year fuse software for tablets and PC's alike, and encouraging websites to do the same...

Slightly OT but actually this site and twitter and my two personal faviourite sites for touchscreen users, and I hope this remains with the new site, the only problem I currently have with navigating on here with my fingers is when I want to skip to a page rather than start on page 1 of a thread...

Good point well made, Lee.

We will be asking for volunteers to perform final testing of the new site in a couple of weeks time, and we will need a variety of \"usertypes\" (IT savvy, non-techie, different browsers, 3G connected, phone user, tablet user, etc) to thrash the site against a testing plan.

I think it's brilliant.

This coming from a UI designer.
