Racist little t**ts
« on February 01, 2012, 12:14:47 am by River Don »
My girlfriend is from London but she is of Sri Lankan heritage. We've just moved back to Donny.

Some kids have been bothering her (15 or 16 year olds, the worst age), I heard one shout \"Paki bas**rd\" and tonight they followed her home and said a few unkind things to her.

What's to be done?

Personally I'd like to smash their heads in but I'm far too civilised for all that.

Try and record this abuse on a mobile phone, then take the footage to the police and have them arrested for racial harrassment

You can either:

-Confront them
-Report them to the Police
-Pay some kids £20 who aren't as Civilised to do what you want for you.

I would suggest try to find more out about the little sh*ts and see if you can talk to their parents, but by the sounds of it I doubt that would help as these kids seem to have no respect...

I would certainly get the police involved if it persists.

Such ignorance and abuse should not be tolerated by anyone, I hate how some kids are raised by their feckless, moronic parents.

Never seen racism as a problem in Donny.  My thoughts would be to have a strong word with these kids, filming it on the sly in the hope they say something incriminating and get theirselves in trouble with the law.

Don't film it mate. What with the data protection act you can be done for filming people under 18 i think. So although it seems most sensible, it might get you into trouble.

I'd report it to the police. Get a good look at these kids, try and remember as much as possible about them, clothes, faces, height, weight, what trainers they have on. And at the time, if it happens again, have a quick look round for cctv. Make sure you note where it happens.

Tell the police they followed her aswell, they will soon act on it.

Hope it get's sorted mate. f**king hate racial abuse! Makes me so angry

As long as you're in a public place you can film who you like. Age doesn't come into it.

I'd report it to the Police, but with my experience in the last few years, the Police don't give a shit about anyone. I have zero respect for them. And me old man happens to be Chief Inspector.

The Data Protection Act has absolutely nothing to do with this at all.

1.1 The Data Protection Commission has advised that photographs constitute
“personal data” and processing of such data is subject to the requirements of
the 1998 Data Protection Act.
1.2 It is not necessary to rely on consent for taking or displaying photographs
in most circumstances. Processing of personal data should satisfy one of the
conditions in Schedule 2 of the Data  Protection Act, the most relevant for
these purposes being that:
The processing is necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued
by the data controller or by the third party or parties to whom the data are
disclosed, except where the processing is unwarranted in any particular case
by reason of prejudice to the rights and freedoms or legitimate interests of the
data subject.
1.3 However, a photograph constitutes “sensitive” personal data if it is
possible to infer, for example, an individual’s religious beliefs from that
photograph (i.e. First Communion photographs).
1.4 It is therefore recommended that explicit written consent is always
obtained from the parent and child where photographs are used, in order to
comply with legal requirements laid out in Schedule 3 of the 1998 Data
Protection Act. This states that one of the required conditions for processing
sensitive data is that the data subject  has given his explicit consent to the
processing of personal data

Yeah because recording young people has nothing to do with data protection!

My Missis is a cockney when we first moved back up here (back for me) we got some right grief, I was told I'd no right to live in the village....(born and bred in the village moved for work but spent nearly 30 years away although came back 3 or 4 times a year so was still well known)  I soon put the little toerags straight on that one.

However the missis copped it more,  cockney c*** being shouted  from one end of the street to the other etc, The culprits were yes a couple of the local scroats aged about 14 /15 turned out they were distant relatives of a neighbour so we went down that route and it settled down after a while, the wife also got a job as the local lollipop lady shes been doing it about 9 years now, got to know most of the parents and has seen kids grow from nursery to comprehensive. No real hassles anymore apart from that first year or so.

Now if anybody fancies knocking the missis over while shes insured at work...........

I really hate this sort of thing, on more than one level..Nasty ignorant little rats. does your lady have to go past their houses to get home, or are they just your average semi feral roam where they want type kids?

It worries me that if she has to go past them every day that they might get more cocky.. Not all, but some kids seem to be almost less than human these days. Is there anyway you could meet her from work? or perhaps have someone meet her so she doesn't have to go past them alone.?

The thing that always scares me in situations like this is just how quickly things can spiral out of control, as satisfying as it might be to sort the little barstewards out yourselves, these days it isn't over exaggerating to say groups of teenages can be extremely dangerous. It shouldn't be like that, but it is.

No there isn't. Bar the establishment of any reasonable and articulable suspicion you can film anyone and anything you like whilst on public property.

I'd just like to congratulate you on that, as I was in Tenerife last July and there were quite a few females of Sri Lankan heritage!

Bloody lovely!

Go down the filming on mobile phone route, nothing to stop you.

Also, pal of mine had same problem, his wife originates from Antigua. She got awful abuse when they first moved to Nottingham. After a while his nephew stepped up and joined in with the gang that was dishing out the abuse and he managed to get their names and a couple of addresses. Passed on to police along with some mobile phone footage of them, job sorted. The abusers only got ASBOs but it was effective.

Nephew didn't care as was joining the Navy and was away on his basic training when the court case came up!!
