Billy Kee
« on February 19, 2012, 01:48:33 am by donnyroversfc »
Billy Kee at Burton Albion, 21yo striker, absolute born natural goalscorer! 12 goals in 13 starts so far for Burton in league 2. Worth a punt? Id say he definately is! Same physical attributes as Sharp and scored goals everywhere hes been, this lad IMO could be the new Billy Sharp.

Burton signed him for 20k in the summer so we could get him pretty cheap, and i guarentee you he will not be playing League 2 football next season!

This is exactly the type of signing we should be making. Eunan O'Kane at Torquay is another.

I've been thinking the same since sometime last year. His name's been mentioned on here before, but I doubt anything will come of it.

For what it's worth, I really think it'd be a great signing. Wouldn't break the bank and if it didn't work out we'd not have lost much.

If we get relegated, signing players like him are a must.

I think we should have been signing these sort of players at the end of last season. On reflection, I think SO'D's biggest mistake was not to have a thorough clearout at the end of last season and bring in some new blood from the lower divisions (on modest wages).

Even now though I fear that we have no plan for what happens if (when) we go down and I think next season could be painful as a result.

If we do drop then you only have to look at Scunny and how difficult it could be and they didn't even have the complication of our experiment which will evaporate if we get relegated taking all Mckays players with it.

Rios, that is untrue, take it from me, McKay and his merry men will still be at DRFC next season, irrespective of league status. The only question mark will be EHD.

I have watched Burton a lot and I think we have forgotten what a gap there is between the Championship and League 2. Kee is no better than Hayter.  He is playing in a team where Zola has also scored 12 and John McGrath bosses the midfield!!

I must have imagined JR saying that the \"experiment\" wouldn't continue if we went down then...

Totally agree.  Adam LeFondre was banging them in for fun for Rovrum, but can't get in Reading's team and looks ordinary when he comes on.  Hayter by the same token would have a field day against Macclesfield or Barnet.

Yep, there is a pretty big gap between League Two and the Championship. I'd say you need an outstanding quality like lightning pace or great strength to recreate League Two form at this level.

Would have fitted in well with SOD, both small and lightweight, and not much cop.

Le fondre has scored 6 goals in 9 starts in the championship so far (Reading fans consider him as their second best striker, behind J.Roberts) Hes 4 year older than Kee too! Alot of Championsip players have come from that league, its about finding the right ones, Billy Kee imo is one that can easily play at an higher level.

Not only is he young but playing at an higher level and with better players will also improve him.

Mcleod was alot older than Kee is, he still scored a few goals in league one for MK Dins though if im not mistaken?

Charlie Auston and Jermaine beckford are two players that we're signed up from lower than conference level, how have they worked out?

Not forgetting Chris Smalling who went from Maidstone united to Fulham then Man u in the space of 2 years.

Lets diregard Billy Kee as a potential signing though, because Stuart Fleetwood was a flop.

chill ur beans. just saying that this is what scouts are for and these lower leauge players need to be looked at for many games before they can be classed as targets. just because you see him put a few goals away on the football leauge show dont mean he is all that. i mean how many chances do players get in leauge 2? lots. not saying dont sign him and he is shit just hope we dont sign a player because they are young and score goales in a low leauge.

Plenty of scouts have been watching him lately too, would like to think that with us needing a replacement for Sharp in the long term, that he'd be one of a few we'd be taking a look at.

From the stuff i've seen of him and heard from other fans, he has the same attributes as Sharp. If Saunders is to stay here, with him being a former striker himself, could make a cracking player out of him.

Could we afford him? He's 21 and has an excellent goal scoring record. Rotherham could demand £400,000 for ALF and Fleetwood wanted £1m for a Conference midfielder!
