Traffic nightmare for the new season?
« on July 09, 2012, 12:16:10 am by Filo »
While working tonight I went to the motorway from Carr House Road, first time I`ve been down there for a few weeks, it looks like the after match traffic will be a nightmare with all the roadworks, I can see many people leaving earlier than normal to try and beat the snarle up, The KM will be empty come full time!

I went down Towards Carr House road yesterday and was surprised at the lack of progress made since the end of last season. I understand it takes one person to do the work, two people to watch and one to have a ciggie, but I'd have thought since bloody April they'd be at least looking like almost finishing. Balby road always seems to be a wash with orange cones though... Glad I moves from there last year cos getting to work some mornings was ridiculous.

They closed a road just outside Thorne at the beginning of April for 6 weeks, then after 7 weeks they changed the sign to 10 weeks. Eventually it re opened and it appears all they've done is install two metal barriers at the side of the road, about 8 foot long a piece. I understand it's good that work continues cos at the very least it keeps people in work, but why does it seem to take forever to complete?

About the time the link road from Woodfield Plantation was finished. Would solve a lot of problems.

That road was going to be "built soon" when I bought my place ten years ago. I'm going to be putting it on the market in the next couple of weeks so you can expect works to commence imminently. I'll keep everyone posted as to when I'm moving so you will know that it is opening the following week.

The last I heard it was dependent on the White Rose Way widening which is now happening. Wonder what the new excuse will be.

I understand that the section between McDonalds and B&Q should be finished for November and that they've caught up the delay they had last Christmas (though they will then be doing B&Q to the motorway)  Also, as they have taken the roundabouts out, it will be traffic light controlled junctions. You would hope that this will allow the police to control the outgoing traffic better.

In the long run it (should be!) much better than it was before. I suppose the good thing about getting relegated is less away fans trying to get to the motorway.

What made me laugh was when they took out the B&Q round-about and tarmac'd it, only to dig out trenches in the new tarmac a couple of days later for drainage pipes.
The only thing to hold up the road from B&Q to Woodfield Plantation will be the Pikeys that like to camp down that small stretch and dump all of their shit there.

Dont forget they will first build the road ( a la Lakeside ) but then keep it closed for a few years as "they dont want to create a rat run"

Mike ...imo you are safe as it wont happen for years !

...also noticed yesterday that it looked like a new fence has gone in at the side of Lakeside Pub so those who like to short cut that corner might have to walk an extra 100 yards as well !

... And probably quite a few less home fans attending too!
