Anyone that thinks Doncaster has a good range of restaurants clearly has never been outside Doncaster.

I suspect the reason they aren't here is because they know their sector is already saturated or in the case of Pizza Express or Ask probably believe there isn't the disposable income in the town for people to trade up from Pizza Hut. That Frankie & Bennies for instance doesn't seem to get packed out.

Anyway, it looks like there's more on the way but I suspect it'll just take trade from businesses in town.

You're right RD they will be just taking more slices out of the same pie. What we are short of are decent French bistros, Cantonese, Thai, Turkish  and Malay restaurants.
We need more decent food not quick shite surely looking at waist lines in Donny.

There are some great independent restaurants in and around town.

Thanks for the info Mr Frost. Nice to know what you are all talking about.

You'd probably be asking the same if I mentioned Applebee's. Chilli's or Red Lobster, Popeye's.

Surely the likes of Nando's, Pizza Express, Ask, TGI Friday and even Frankie & Bennies would do much better in town? It just shows how pointless Peter Davis is!!! Why doesn't he try and fill the town center with businesses rather that letting people build these bloody horrible leisure and retail parks.

COME ON YOU HOOOOOOOP!!!!!  :scarf:

I'm pretty sure the Dome area would appeal to those businesses more. It offers customers lots of free parking, a new custom built unit and they could probably get it cheaper.

Far less likely to have to deal with Doncaster's drunken masses on a weekend down at the Dome area.

Nando's are after a unit in the town centre. They are planning on opening two, one in town and one at Lakeside.

Chilli's are good, but the rest are pretty awful. Having said that I have a penchant for a Denny's breakfast but my American friends all describe it as trash.

Denny's !!! OMG....

The key to good food in the States is to eat off the beaten track. On my last proper visit we were in Mesquite for a few days and had one breakfast in the Hotel....the rest of the week we ate down the street with the locals.....as Adam Richman would say.."Oh my goodness, that's the Gospel right there !"

Mind you, that was the trip that started off in Chicago where I got a crash course in 'buying' Dunkin' Donuts.....we'd stopped off to visit the export manager for Riddell. He met us off the plane late at night and proceeded to take us for a coffee and donuts.....and haggled for the remaining stock in the shop and blagged it for about $25. I think he ended up with just over 100 donuts which he took to work the next day !

As for Denny's yes it is crap, your far better off going for breakfast to a family owned restaurant, much better food, much better value.

Yahoo ....Red Lobster is my favourite. The "biscuits" / Cheese scones as a starter are tremendous. They ought to pay me commision for the number of people I have taken there or recommended

I used to love going when it was 60 Shrimp (i.e massive Prawns) any style.

I also love Olive Garden and the Garlic Rolls served as a starter and Pinchers Crab Shack which is probably not a US nationwide chain but has a few branches around Naples Fla. Tremendous

I bet I ate in the same Hotel when I stopped off on way from Las Vegas to Utah. Instantly forgettabe

The road between the 2 was NOT forgettable. I was bricking it and was being massively cautious as it twisted and turned between 2 vertical cliffs of never ending sandstone. The "Semis" or Artics were blasting past me and to this day I have never been as frightened behind the wheel of a car.

Normally I just get on with it

We stayed in the Oasis Casino resort

We had a drive along Interstate 15 to St George one day...it was awesome that road. The sandstone cliffs are imposing but breathtaking too. First and only time i've ever driven through a rainbow

Thats the road I am on about ,,,, like a roller coaster .... up down left right

I found it on Youtube when I got back. I think it was Veterans Memorial Highway but the "scary" bit had a sub name like Indian River Gorge and someone had kindly posted a Vid shot from the dashboard

Actually I will look at the map and find the Rivers name - then I might fing the Vid again

EDIT

Virgin River Gorge !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=830SQCcEHiQ&feature=related

Gets going at 2 minutes - just have to imagine a cross wind from hell with me in Right lane being passed by every lorry in the State
