I've mentioned this before but Sean T's insanity programme is amazing. Worked for me and mrs JD. It's a 60 day workout it comes with a nutrition guide and the meals are excellent!

I lost a stone and a half and really toned up, r lass lost nearly 2 stone too. We never did any exercise before this but it is VERY hard work. I haven't sweated as much as I did during those workouts and I have nothing but praise for it.

Definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to lose weight/tone up. No weights, no apparatus, just determination and sweat!!

Beachbody.co.uk I think, amazon also do it.

It's advertised quite a lot on shopping stuff. I never normally buy anything of there but this caught my eye and the reviews on Amazon also speak for themselves!

The price is about £90 I think, but Beachbody offer paying in 3 installments so it was a lot easier on the monthly outgoings.

Again, can't praise it highly enough.

Simplistic I know, but plenty of cycling, swimming and walking (if possible to do these things) will take a lot off, it did for me before work got in the way. Still keep up with the walking.

You could download Shaun T off Pirate Bay for three monthly installments of £0.

Got to say that I dont think there is any better way of getting fit than cycling, I commute to work and back, 12 miles each way, which saves me a lot of money and is often as quick as driving.

If it comes with a copy of the nutrition book then go with that for nowt definitely, but if not then try and find a diwnloadable copy on net cos it's a big part of doing it right, working out calories needed to lose what you want and tone up. Breaks down every meal into calories and like I say, the meals are nice, not just salads and fruit!

Good luck in whatever you do though

http://www.ddpyoga.com/site/index.php/en/

This set of workouts will kick your arse from pillar to post, but it's worth it. You'll never believe how much standing still can make you sweat, but stick with it and it increases flexibility, improves tone and also helps a hell of a lot with pain in the muscles and joints. I'd recommend it to anyone who's just looking to lose a bit of weight, to athletes looking to get rid of aches and pains.

It's expensive but in the internet age it's not too hard to find it for free.

Of course you'll be using your VPN connection to download torrents, otherwise you can expect a solicitor's letter through the door demanding a ridiculous amount for pirating it  (and yeah it may not happen for just one thing, but if you use torrents without VPN it will happen eventually.)

Indeed - but just think what great shape you'll be in when that letter does arrive.

Trying to get back into cycling as I really enjoy it. Got myself a decent mountain bike. Just need some spare time now!

Best fitness advice - consume less calories than you use....

Simplistic I know, but it is what I have been doing for the past year or so and I have lost almost 8 stone. No fad diets, no workout plan, just a healthy sensible diet and regular exercise (walking to and from work and taking up running).

Simples.

Try building going on your bike into your daily routine, it won't then feel like you are giving up any spare time...

I walk to and from work and also go for a walk/run on my lunch hour. I have to leave my flat 15 minutes earlier if I walk than I do if I jump on the overground so for me its a no brainer, I get 5 miles of walking done and save about £25 a week too... The on a lunch hour, I get another 3 miles or so in - if I didn't go for a walk i'd just sit at my desk. So that is 2.5 hours of exercise a day and only losing 15 minutes in bed in a morning and 15 minutes out of my evening.

I do go out running most evenings and I guess that means giving up some spare time, but whats an hour in 24?!

Exactly. Weight loss is a very simple equation...if Kilo Joules consumed is less than Kilo Joules excerted then you lose weight.

That sounds like a quote from someone who has never struggled with weight?
two examples for you I cut down on calorie intake and trained every day for 3 months and I gained weight!!
so in an attemp to try even harder I started doing Cardio only and cut my calorific intake dangerously low, I lost 4 stone in 3 months thought Id done brilliant then had my stats done to find Id lost the bulk of it as muscle and that I was severely dehydrated! followed a diet to regain muscle and re hydrate and regained the weight and some!

so no its not always as simple as if calorie intake is less than calories burnt you lose weight........I wish!

Ultimately it is just an equation though.  In the short term training hard will lead to weight gain but as you mention that is due to muscle mass. It can take a while for your body to aclimatise. There is a weight loss and training seminar at Xercise4less gym on Sunday for anyone interested. Give them a ring and book a place, open to non-members only £2.

Worked for me, I last 4 stone in about 3 months just through getting off the tube a couple of stops early and then walking to and from work, swimming a couple of mornings a week and eating only a very small amount in the weekday evenings. Now I'm just careful to eat better less junk, more home cooked meals.

The difficult bit for me was deciding I really wanted to do it.

I take the point about dehydration, I've put about half a stone back, so possibly there was a bit of that but I've been at this level for above six months so I think it's job done now.

I think that is the most important thing - unless you really want to do it & your is in it you are just setting yourself up for a fall. I think you also have to view it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet/fitness kick. I know that when I get to my target weight I will have to keep up the exercise & healthy eating to avoid just putting the weight back on again. I have been a stable weight for quite a while now and been okay at maintaining but I do want to shift another couple of stone....

I know loads of people who do a different fad diet every week & they just don't get anywhere - or they get amazing results very quick and then find themselves putting all the weight back on as eating meal supplements 3 times a day teaches you nothing about healthy eating choices and habits.

Totally true. You've got to want to di it for yourself. When I did the insanity it meant a total lifestyle change. After finishing the initial 60 days, I still do roughly 3 days a week on average just to keep toning.

But the major change I've noticed is I now appreciate good food, healthy food that tastes great and the most important thing is portion sizes. Me and r lass used to think we were eating healthy but the portion sizes obliterated that. Now we know exact portions right for our bodies to maintain the weight we've achieved.

Once you've done it, it's so easy to maintain. Losing it (and the willpower TO lose it is the biggest hurdle)

I would say yes, but it depends what your breakfast dinner and tea consist of? If you haven't done an exact workout of calories to consume to burn, then you can always ask the instructors at your gym who will give you ideas.

Remember, not all fat is bad, but some fatty foods take longer to break down, they stay in your system longer, first in last out kinda thing. It's not a good idea to go extreme dieting alongside a new heavy workout regime without proper savvy or advice/guidance.

Good luck though man, when I went to the gym a few years back I was burning off about 800 cals 3-4 times a week so you should easily lose it.
