I still think Deano will want another striker. A poacher type to get the tap ins. Maybe a loan signing.

I tell you what, if that is the case and we end signing a 'poacher type' or pace player as well as Paynter I'll be delighted, we'd have a diverse and strong strike force then if you add those two to Brown, Blake and Ball.

BBC Sport has now picked up the Paynter story by the way.

I don't know a lot about Ball, is he anything like a poacher?

well would at least be a player being brought in to counter those leaving.. just another 3/4 more needed

I remember him swearing at a ball boy when he played against us at Belle Vue one time, right in front of me in the Main Stand. Never liked him ever since then.

However, he's capable at L1 level, so I'd be willing to swallow my pride and get behind him if we do sign him. He's certainly better than what we have.

Looking like Bennett will be used as a striker, so that's another to the list.

Am I mistaken here or has my memory merely gone fuzzy! I'm sure when there was talk of us being interested in Paynter before he went to Leeds most people were raving about him and how great O'Driscoll was doing in showing the ambition to go for players like him???

Funny how things change eh???

I'm nowhere near Deano's biggest fan, but fair play to him if these two signings come off!

He's one of the many thousands of players i suggested when the free transfer and transfer lists were put out,my only worry is he is a very similar player to Chris Brown,so that would be two target men,he's got almost a one in three goal ratio over his career, what can we really expect player wise with the money we have?,i think he would be alright,i would have preferred the other one at Leeds Ramon Nunez he caused us a few problems when we played them at home,he would have made far more appearances but for a few injuries and he's also gone to a few teams and been out of favour,i'd say he would be a Good signing, not someone i'd be necessarily excited about, but a good solid team player!! :scarf:
