Painful but thats get real
« on August 01, 2012, 10:27:33 am by Norfolk N Chance »
If we do lose three high profile players is that a bad thing?

Change is good and in JOC and Stock things have got stale.

Ask yourself one question do we what to end up like a Pompey????

Lots of positives from all new recruits with players like Bennett on fire so lets support the club and understand the bigger picture.

Agree with everything, yeah Copps would be missed, but as stated in the other thread, the players that DS might bring in to replace may do the job.

1 man a team doth not make!

At least as Norfolk says, we won't end up like Pompey, we have a club, and that's what matters in the whole cosmic scheme of things!

Copps we will miss. Not sure about Stock or Joc tbh. Both been great servents to the club but for me we have better in middfield now. Stock just can't get up and down like deano seems to want the cm to do. Joc doesn't seem as though he wants to play for Deano.

Agree. Copps is more of an icon for many fans for many reasons. Of all of the players who've come and gone since he arrived, he was a beacon of our success and I think will be missed most (Greeny aside).

We know of his consistency, but we also know he can be a magician and there's not may who have given me as much value for money.

Let's hope this crown jewel sticks around a little longer.

Will we even miss Copps that much? For large periods of last season he was woeful and only improved to be one of our better players in the closing weeks of the campaign.

Its the same with Stock too.

But if these new players will really make a better team, Copps will be better for it. When the team plays well, Copps generally does. I for one hope he stays.

I think the comparison with Pompey is a poor one. They are not where they are because they kept hold of sone of there better players. They are where they are because they had an owner who kept pumping money into the club, when he left they tried to carry on pumping money in but gaining that money on loans secured by the ground, the land, season tickets and when they had nothing to borrow against in the unsustainable model they went bust.
Hardly likely to happen if we keep the likes of Stock and Coppinger.

However for the record I hope Copps leaves, he only has one season in him and he deserves a shot in the Championship. I also think expectations are too high from our fans regarding him next season and I don't want to see him go the same way as Oster who may as well been booed out of this club, that hurt me. However if he chooses to stay then I will be grateful and support him and anyone else wearing our shirt come August 18th.

Oster wouldn't had been booed if he put in a shift and went in for a challenge every now and again.

Oster was the only player who used to show for the ball and looked comfortable to receive it. Although the Keepmoat faithful love a good Gillett style slide tackle, if you watch your better footballers they dont slide around on their arse as much.

b*llocks was Oster the only play who looked comfortable to receive the ball. He near enough shit himself when the ball came anywhere near him, falling on his arse half the time isn't looking comfortable to me.

Totally agree, i'm afraid. Add to that once he passed the ball, he never wanted it back and he was lazy in defence.

Don't think anyone can really take much credit for last seasons debacle but prior to that horrendous run we were playing good football and winning quite a few games, in this period Oster was one of the top performers. Put him in a decent footballing Championship side with decent players and he's a top footballer.

Im a huge fan of Copps, but can anyone deny that Bennett wont be better given the same amount of game time Copps had in his early career? Lets not forget that Copps took a good few seasons in League one, it wasn't all 'Southend' and stand out player from the start.

And while the crop of players we've had punched us above our weight into the championship, we all knew a new generation was needed and perhaps with this generation lessons can be learned with contracts, tactics (namely a need for a versatile team where plan B CAN exist) and when the right time is to sell/let them go?

Its sad to see the SOD team go, but I for one am looking forward to seeing the Saunders team in action! (and hope he'll take cups reasonably serious! Could inject the positivity the team so badly needs early on)

Couldn't agree more!

Everytime he lost the ball all he did was put his arms in the air and blame who ever it was meant to be aimed at for loosing it. Complete waste of wages for the last few years.

I think the departure of McIndoe is a very important factor to consider when looking at Coppinger's development.
