That tells a story in itself! We could n`t afford to pay him what he wanted, Barnsley are in the same boat as us and skint, so logic says that they can`t afford him either, unless he`s lowered his wage demands, or did his agent quote stupid wages to us to use as an excuse to go elswhere?

It makes you wonder why SOD needs to take a look at him, did n`t he see enough of him here?

Forest are probably not the same team that we were (or at least, that we were supposed to be) under SO'D. Gillett isn't the most talented player who can fit into any team and do a job, more of a grafter. Maybe he's no different to what they already have, which is why SO'd wants to see how he'll fit in.

I still say we should have retained him over Keegan though, but it sounds like there were some complications behind the scenes that weren't made public.

It is my belief that IF Saunders wanted any of the SOD players he could have had them , but like most mangers who take over they only want there own way and don't want players who come with baggage . Wages aside he never really got the best of the last lot and players are leaving because he has never had their respect.

If Gillett can get a contract at a Championship club good luck to him. IMO never really thought he was Championship level. Wish the lad well always thought he gave his all, think he could be on his way to a second successive relegation though if he signs for the Dingles.
