I thought they were all aweful. Terrible match, and I am quite disappointed that there wasn't any real effort put in for the first competetive home match of the season. It was played like a friendly. I know it was "only" the league cup but all eleven players didn't look like they wanted to stake a claim for a starting spot in the next game.I truelly hope it improves because I have become disallusioned with football for some time now, even more so after watching some Herculian performances by Great British Athletes who earn a damn sight less and probably train three times as hard as a footballer. For me, Copps was the only one who looked compossed on the ball but didn't really hurt York. The passing was terrible, there wasn't any movement off the ball and we lacked any creative ideas.

Husband and Wakefield were the only 2 who looked up for it.

posts like this amuse me, written by uneducated idiots and armchair warriors, the same who sit in the East Stand and piss and moan about everything, as if they were Pele themselves. David Cotterill is after Coppinger probably the second best player in that squad only a shade ahead of Spurr, yes he was frustrated on Saturday, he showed it, because he knows hes better than that, some sloppy touches and silly passing, but then looking at the entire squad, they were all poor. This is a new team, who have had NO TIME to gel and learn each others movements and capabilities, his passing is ususally fantastic. Give them time, this Rovers squad will do us proud this season.

And I have seriously considered stopping going to football, but Rovers has been in my blood since 1985 and it's still hard to let go. I just don't get the same buzz out of football anymore.
lol long time? hes been with the club what 4 weeks? 5 weeks?yea go you... you should be a football scout... your patience is immense.i stand by my original statement, uneducated armchair warrior... get your boots on sounds like your needed on the pitch..
Try reading ALL of my post' on this thread you nugget. Not once have I mentioned Cotterill, even though the thread is about him. And my patience as you put it, has been put to the test for about three years now. It's about football in general, not just DRFC. So my educated friend, read again and come back with something a bit better than the arm chair warrior b*llocks. There's a good chap.lol long time? hes been with the club what 4 weeks? 5 weeks?yea go you... you should be a football scout... your patience is immense.i stand by my original statement, uneducated armchair warrior... get your boots on sounds like your needed on the pitch..

I'm finding the opinions on some players a little strange tbh...Bennett to me looked like the only player we had who has the ability to make something happen,ok it didn't work much for him Sat but at least he tried yet he has had pelters on here....Then we move on to the untouchable Coppinger who for me is the priority to get off the wage bill...Once again had a poor game, not interested except when he has got his hand in the air appealing for anything..Same old mediocre rubbish from him yet most think he's a god...and after 3 good games out of his last 40 I cant understand it.. Jones and Husband did well,Cotterill didnt do much but it's only the second time i've seen him so cant base much of a opinion on that.... Blake is a joke though,he is that overweight it looked like someone had been pulled from the crowd and stuck a shirt on him...We should have learned by know after last season that past reputations meen very little...It's going to take a long time to get him fit...

Your comment about Blake is harsh. You don't train and play with a premiership side for a season then become totally unfit and obese in 2 months. He's always been a stocky bloke, as is Reid and Rooney, and these kind of players do need a bit longer to get their sharpness, but writing off a player of his ability after a couple of preseason games is a joke.
RE: Cotterill. Give him a chance. We would have no chance of even signing him if he wasn't a bit inconsistent. Hopefully that (consistency) is something we can develop here by giving him a regular game. That's what Rovers are all about, isn't it? Taking rough diamonds and giving them a chance to fulfil their potential.
