Belgian Grand Prix

F1 finally returns this weekend after the summer break!

With Alonso looking like the one to catch the Qualifiers today have proved entertaining, anyone else watching this? I reckon Perez might have a good weekend...

Just seen the results of qualifying and it is a bit of a surprise! Button is back at last, though none of the 5 guys behind him are really title contenders. Crucially Alonso has outqualified both Red Bulls and Hamilton.

Fingers crossed that Webber can get past him and have a good solid race towards thepodium tomorrow.

Webber does have a 5 place penalty though for the race tomorrow though, and with only 9 races left I doubt Button has what it takes to catch Alonso now, Hamilton looked good at times today but consistency is the key and I have a funny feeling that he will struggle tomorrow, I think tomorrow is going to be the test of whether Raikkonen has what it takes to challenge Alonso as I doubt Vettel will do much from the middle of the grid.

Balls I forgot about that penalty.

Alonso the other day claimed he somehow wasn't favourite for the championship. Not sure what his play is there.

His play is that he's being honest as he only has the third or fourth best car and it's the poor performances of the others, especially Lotus who have the best car which have led to him leading.  If Vettel, Hamilton or Alonso were in the Lotus this season they'd have won the Championship by now.

Thats why the championships not over yet. A few inches either way and Alonso could've been out for a few races or worse.

Missed it. Again.

The most unpredictable and exciting season I've ever seen though. All it would take is for an outsider (such as Raikkonen, Hamilton) to win a few races and they'd be in the running.

Long way to go, I'd say.

Today played into Red Bull's hands, Vettel is now only 24 points off of Alonso, which means that as long as he finishes on the podium AND above Alonso in 5/9 races left then he will surely become the World Champion for the 3rd year running and Red Bull are well in the lead in the Constructors again.

Schumacher had a good race despite the Mercedez losing the pace and losing 6th gear towards the end of the race. I think it is unfair for Grosean to be handed a race ban after causing the pile up, one mistake of trying to make Hamilton yield caused the crash, but it was on the first corner so I assumed the stewards would just allow it as there were no injuries.
