Genuinely the greatest British sporting moment in my lifetime. An epic contest and a tremendous victory for Andy.

Bloody Andy Murray, knackard this morning! Tutoring on less than 5 hours sleep is NOT fun! Epic tennis match though, one of the best!

Murray could well go on to dominate the sport now. I thought he had lost it once it was 2-2, but he got through it. Fantastic tennis match.

The sad thing is this thread would probably be about 3 pages long if Murray had lost with people coming on to slate him. He has deserved to win a Slam for so long and so pleased for him he has finally done it. I watch a lot of tennis and that is up there in the top 2 or 3 matches I have ever seen. I'm going to the Paris Masters and the ATP World Tour Finals in London in November so hoping I will see him play at one of those!

There was more discussion on some radio programmes about whether it was a win for Britain or Scotland. Pathetic.

Fantastic result and long overdue. Its ridiculous that people play on what he has said before. Not everybody has to like everybody. He has worked hard for this win. The olympic medal seemed to be a spur on for him. He can only beat whats in front of him, Nadal is injured and Federer in a short amount of time will slow down. It could potentially be a good time for him.

Great result for the lad and well deserved. It's been a great year (bar the Hillsborough report) both in sporting terms and for the Jubilee celebrations.
