Terry will be there at 1pm tomorrow signing copies of his book 'Regrets of a Football Maverick'
Terry Curran's confessional is a no holds barred tale of football guaranteed to put a smile on the faces of fans who remember the game's golden age of Cloughie, Tommy Docherty, Lawrie McMenemy, Jack Charlton and Howard Kendall. Sheffield Wednesday's all-time cult hero opens his heart about football in the 1970s and 80s, with great off-field tales to make your hair curl. Brilliant and unpredictable on the pitch, argumentative and hot headed off it, Terry Curran thrilled and entertained, leaving great and unusual memories. Yet in Regrets of a Football Maverick he reveals how his contentious nature caused him to miss out on his destiny. Highlights include learning from Cloughie, being a saint and a sinner with England World Cup hero Alan Ball, the Boxing Day Massacre and doing a Carlos Tevez at Everton. Terry's story will transport you back to an era of great games, goals and girls - but not necessarily in that order. WARNING: Terry Curran's story may offend the politically correct!

No, I've asked but I'm still waiting for an answer. Its £16 on Amazon so I'm expecting it to be cheaper than that.

Looking forward to reading this, as I was so disappointed with the Kitch bio, even though that provided a few interesting insights to 1970s Rovers. This should provide some more.
I saw TC’s Rovers debut as an 18 year old v Peterborough in October, 1973. The Posh were league leaders, and this young number 11 just ripped them open at will. I also recall him garbed in African Violet and Black, when we played Liverpool at BV in an FA Cup replay some months later, and he caused Shankly's defence all sorts of problems. Setters decided to keep the away strip for that replay, as we had performed so well in it at Anfield to gain a 2-2 draw.
Picturing Curran now brings back another memory -- I was listening to the Shrewsbury-Rovers game updates on Radio Sheffield in early 1975 -- which ended in a 7-4 defeat for the Rovers -- and the reporter at Gay Meadow was astounded by Curran's trickery and skill. Indeed, after the game, Shrewsbury's player-manager Alan Durban was not interested at all in talking about the game, but just in how much he had to pay Rovers to make Terry Curran a Shrewsbury player.
Fellow greybeards on this forum will recall that TC went to Forest at the beginning of the 1975/76 season, and we received 50,000 quid, Dennis Peacock and ‘Windy’ Miller in return. It was a great deal really, because Dennis went on to play ‘forever’ for us, and Ian was way above D4 skill level, being one of the fastest wingers I ever recall seeing at any level.
I lived in Sheffield briefly in the mid 80s, and got to know several ardent Owls fans. For them, TC was sheer legend. He should have played for England, but reconciling vast skill, one’s personal life and relative wealth for working class kids in pro-soccer was always a problem, and so many fell by the wayside and never made the step up.
I played local football for years as a kid, and saw some amazing TC-type skills on the Donny Council pitches – and much physicality too. One particular game sticks out at Highfield Working Men’s Club, and in one game at Bentley in the early 70s an ex-Rover, Billy Mordue, skillfully left me with many bruises – but Rovers legend TC was too quick and skilful to be caught!

I've posted this before in another TC fan-fest but here goes.....As a student I watched TC play for the Blunts against Exeter City at St Jimmys. After an hour of ritual abuse from the home fans he received the ball wide on the left, deep in the City half. He then turned and went on a mazy dribble, beating at least five players, ending in his own penalty box with a tap back to the Blunts keeper and a bow to the home crowd,. He got a standing ovation and was applauded every time he was involved from then on. What a star !!

According to
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=_QT5TaWjxPwC&pg=PR4-IA3&lpg=PR4-IA3&dq=Terry+Curran+Ian+Miller+Dennis+Peacock&source=bl&ots=px37542b5Y&sig=tGnddZ-SVzCdZJYkcwVPlrSGbJ4&hl=en&sa=X&ei=_02BUN-VFOLK0QWL_YDgBA&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=Terry%20Curran%20Ian%20Miller%20Dennis%20Peacock&f=false
, the Clough biography by Jonathon Wilson, Anderson had valued Curran at £140,000 so Clough told Currans brother about his interest in signing him, thus discouraging Curran from signing a new contract and so reducing the eventual fee. Rovers stopped his summer wages for seven weeks until he was signed, with Forest apparently paying them through fabricated expenses claims via their scout.

I remember TC playing for Kinsley Boys when he was about 14. Just shows, today you have got to be 16 to play open aged football, so sad some lads just walk awayfrom the game and are lost forever.
