Away days
« on October 30, 2012, 03:57:12 pm by colin cramb »
I'm not a season ticket holder i go to around 12-15 home games a year, i went to notts county on saturday my first away game in a couple of years and i really really enjoyed it alot more than most of my visits to the keepmoat.
I wonder what it is that makes away games seem much more fun? Granted the result certainly helped, and the fact i stood up all game and never really stopped singing, is it that simple? Is all we need to do create a standing area to get more atmosphere in the keepmoat? I've signed the petition on the safe standing thread, i hope it comes to fruition but in these politically correct health n safety days i doubt it! Looks like i'll just have to pick a few more away games to go to for now!  :rtid:

That's exactly it, I reckon. All the singers are clumped together, everyone who doesn't wanna join in sits further down and there you go - better atmosphere usually = more fun too.

Well when seating was introduced we was told we have to sit because it is safer. Now that isn't the case anymore we are told it is because we have to. The barriers are coming down slowly and we should see safe standing being allowed. Being implemented is a different story.

I know there is a fair few people that bang on about putting home games first but for me the bottom line is it is your money, and you should spend it on what you enjoy most. I enjoy away games as an experience. That 'just a pub team having a laugh feeling' is always much greater when your away from home, outnumbered and the odds stacked against you. Everyone in the crowd is much more willing to be vocal and show their support.

Away games are always the best.
Our atmosphere at The Keepmoat  is at best krap I know but to be fair so is most places.Went to Tranmere and we didnt hear home fans much and they had loads to shout about.

How many home crowds this year and last were that good??
(Think Watfords was the worst)

Thanks for signing the petition, to be honest though that is just the tip of the iceberg but probably the most visible part of the campaign. If you could see what has been done in the background and how much effort has gone into this then you would change your mind and have the same opinion as me, standing will be back.

Hope your right SM keep up the good work, to be fair i was very surprised at just how quiet the notts fans were hardly heard them at all and apparently they had a trumpet! I certainly didnt hear it, i suppose were all guilty of just sitting there expecting to be entertained when at home, an like previously stated its a us vs them seige mentality away from home, very enjoyable  :scarf:

Always going to be a different atmosphere when you're in enemy territory.

I don't think even the Vikings would have been the same in their own front room!!

Home is what you make it as they say ! I think we'll witness better atmospheres if we continue to progress and draw people back to the KM. Getting the South Stand full is a starting point.
