Strange isn't how "the role " of a supporter/fan has evolved.

When I started watching in 1968 (Rovers were the first game I went to), we used to watch any of the local teams who were playing.

One week it would be Huddersfield, then Rovers, maybe Halifax or Bradford the week after. Sometimes Barnsley even

Now it's seen as treason to watch another team. Mores the pity

I went to watch Stevenage at home to Pompey the other night. Cracking atmosphere in the away end.

As a kid I went to all the local clubs when we played away, plus my dad encouraged me so I couldn't blame him for supporting us, it didn't work. Nothing wrong with watching other teams if you can't make the Rovers just use it as a scouting excercise. In fact if they are in the same league film it and send it to Deano.

I used to go watch anyone. When I was trying to complete the 92 League Grounds I went all over any day of the week to get a new ground in.

Nothing wrong with watching other teams especially if you migrate round the country with work/study.  In my time I've been regularly to Chelsea (when they were crap!) Wycombe, Shrewsbury, Inverness however in all those times my heart was always with DRFC.  Now I am closer to "home" if I can afford a game, it's Rovers, home or away.

Still deciding about today....

Nothing wrong to go see a local team to where you live. I personally cannot afford the long trip up t' north 2/3 times a month to see Donny, I like footy, so instead go watch Gillingham!!

I go and watch Stalybridge at least half a dozen times a season when work conflicts with Rovers away games.  For me it's a nice reminder of where we once were and it also has some of the stuff I miss from that time (standing, decent food, no segregation).

I've lived away from Donny more than I've lived in the area. Back in the seventies I worked in Gravesend and watched the Gills quite a bit. But these days its Rovers or nothing.

I went - couldn't really afford it but we had my partner's kids from her first marriage staying over so it was a bit of an outing.  I thought County were poor, not top 6 stuff.  We weren't much better first half, but after scoring first we turned it up a bit, with some decent touches.  Defence rock solid, I don't recall Woods having a proper save to make, apart from catching crosses.  As for Jones, immense performance...

I used to watch Denaby United when Rovers were away, and Villa a lot as a student when I was at Aston Uni and lived 10 minutes from the ground.  Living in La Paz I watched BolĂvar because Bolivia to Finningley is a long way to go for a game of football every week.  Never stopped me being a Rovers fan.

I'm a season ticket holder at Brighton as I only live a 15 minute drive from the ground.  Only go because I love watching live football every week.  Its actually nice to go to a game and not give a shit about who wins too

Rovers will always be MY team though.  I try and make 10 games a season if I can.

Oh and whenever Lewis Dunk gets on the pitch I boo the shit out of him in my head  :scarf:

I went to watch the Dingles play Swansea in the FA Cup in 1960 something (Swansea were in 1st division) It was a boring 0-0 draw. When I got home The Rovers had beat Darlo 10-0!!
Serves me right! Well, me mam anyway!!
