They seem to have no problem with signing players despite being in administration. I suspect their wage budget is considerably higher than ours- or indeed most clubs at this level.

Also I wonder whatever happened to that 10 point deduction they were supposed to cop?

Apparently the 10 point penalty comes into effect when they come out of administration. What happened to the penalty being used as a deterrent to stop clubs going into admin in the first place? Isn't that the whole point? Looks like the PST will be buying them soon enough so the 10 points will happen then, but it does set a worrying precedent.

Even more mind boggling is that they can sign numerous players whilst still in administration. If I were the PST I'd leave 'em in administration all bloody season - or at least until they were totally safe from any fear of relegation if the 10 points were to be deducted. If that fear continues to the end of the season, then stay in admin. Why not? Only come out when you are completely safe from the consequences of the penalty, or, like Leeds, are doomed anyway.

I think it was Jason cundy on talk sport that said, he has some very good info, and they are paying big wages for this league and the one above!

That wouldn't surprise me with the players they have. Having said that, they do still draw excellent crowds, but I wonder if it's not something to do with those short term contracts they have everyone on? Anyone who's a bit more clued up on the FFP rules than me know of any loopholes like that?

In the case of Leeds, they took the 10 point deduction only when relegation was confirmed.  It was a calculated and deliberate way to effectively escape punishment from the FL.

It failed though as the next season they had 15 points deducted for their conduct with regard to admin.  without that deduction they would have had automatic promotion in 2007/08.  Instead they ended up facing us in a small fixture of little consequence at Wembley.  They also ended up playing a further 2 seasons in league 1.

If Portsmouth dick about with their financial situation and fail to respect FL rules with respect to admin, they should be similarly punished.

I think I'd do the same in their shoes. The other point is that the longer they leave it the more effect it will potentially have on the League table when the points are deducted.

I think when they actually come out of administration will depend on whether a court will agree that they can buy Fratton Park at market value (reckoned at about £2.75M). The previous owner Chainrai is claiming that the value is much higher- as he wants to recoup more of his money. He is also claiming that the PST are in bed with a property developer who may well acquire the site at a knock-down price.

Some fans were hoping that they could come out of Administration in time for the January transfer window. Knowing the speed the courts work at, I think they are optimistic, but I can see that they are hoping to go on a spending spree.

It just disgusts me that a club in Administration is allowed to sign loan players when we're having to sign players who will play for nothing. Hardly encourages clubs to play by the rules, does it?

I thought they'd changed the rules (after the Leeds case) to make it so clubs couldn't wait to see where they ended up in the table before they decided which season to take their points deduction in?

I'm pretty sure they changed it so if you left it later than a certain date, the points deduction automatically changed over to the following season?

I think a little patience is required here. The PST aren't "dicking about" with anything, and certainly aren't waiting to  come out of admin so they don't get handed a points deduction? In the meantime, the manager is just trying to do the best for his club, with their main aim this season being to avoid another relegation fight.

I'm not pointing fingers at Portsmouth FC or the PST. I am pointing them at the Football League, who I think has managed the situation lamentably.

Point taken TRB. Typical of the Football League these days isn't it? It frustrates the hell out of me sometimes.
