For the attention of silent majority
« on November 23, 2012, 04:46:17 pm by Lifelong supporter »
SM could you please let me have the link in reply to the post I sent under No one in then! You might have missed the message because it suddenly turned into a debate about George Friend. It will just help me put one in the eye of the moaners. Repeating the post below...

Could Silent Majority please post a link with the wage bill of all the League 1 clubs so we can satisfy the doubters. I get fed up with people saying we don't have the third highest wage bill, and that nobody knows the wage bill of the other clubs.

I doubt highly this information is publicly available. I guess it would be possible to find the ceiling for the wage bill as this must be public under the FFP rules, but there is absolutely no guarantee that every club is able to reach this limit.

Not sure I understand CB. Surely it must be well known somewhere because it's been quoted so often. Don't all the clubs have to let each other know what their wage bill is, and why should it be a secret?

This has always been a very confusing picture to us all. You have to think about the value of the player contracts that the club were or is committed to.

It's fairly clear that we were committed to contracts that were not sustainable without selling players on. When our favourite players on relative 'big' contracts are touted for moving on, what does JR and the board do? Be sensible and let them go or keep our crowd favourites to show we're not a selling club ?? (Even though half of them spent more time on the treatment table!)

The 'biggest' budget we keep referring to was mostly inherent and there are still a few players who are on contracts that are disproportionate to the level we are playing.

Just my opinion. We've mixed it with the big boys for a while and 'nearly' got our fingers badly burnt.  The change of regime was a blessing financially and it shows you what can be done when reducing the playing budget by about 2/3rds.

As much as I loved SO'D, his loyalty to certain players cost us. (And may be OUR loyalty to certain players) Think about it !!??

I know the link I put to the Free Press and Gavin's interview doesn't exactly answer the question but I think it gives a pretty fair indication

Keifer Bentley ‏@KeiferBentley

If we’re in the top six, would the board back Dean in January to push on for the final part of the season?

Yes, Dean has the full support of the board and has had throughout his time at the club.

As Dick Watson recently pointed out, the board have already provided Dean with a larger budget than was initially planned and have now allocated Dean further funds once again based on the impressive start to the season.

I know Dean recently went on record as saying he’s had unbelievable support from the board in terms of finances and that part of his job is to bring entertaining winning football to Doncaster Rovers that continues to get our shareholders excited.

There's some figures here if you are interested, apparently the average for League 1 is £1.5m so we are more than double the average - I guess that would make us top 5 at least.

Thanks wilts. I think I have seen these figures before but they are three years out of date. I was just asking where the link was with the up to date figures for this season. Maybe there isn't one and it's just an estimate, or calculated guess by the powers that be, that we have the third highest wage bill in the division. Anyway, silent majority said he was checking with his source and if there is an official table of what League 1 clubs are paying this season I'm sure he will get back to us.

Lifelong,

This year the FFP regulations state that all clubs in League 1 have to submit their budgets to the FL and keep them updated on a regular basis. This information will become public at some point, it always does, but there is a reluctance to publish this just now because of some of the sensitive nature and how some fans will react to knowing their club is holding back on expenditure (they very rarely complain about clubs overspending!)

I have been made aware of what is contained in some of these budgets and what I have been posting for a while is based on the very same. There is no direct link to this, not yet anyway, but it will always be available at some point, this where people like Kieron as the Swiss  Ramble gets his information from. Here's one he did earlier which exposes Leeds Utd but has good information on DRFC as well;

http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Leeds%20United

As bullet type points for this division the information I have is;

We started the season with a wage bill of about £3.9m just under the £4m mark along with 2 other clubs.

If we rise to £4m we will have the 3rd highest (there now I believe) with two other clubs at £4.9m and £4.2m respectively.

The 6th place club has a budget of £3.1m

12 clubs have budgets of less than £2m

Our average wage ranks at third in this division

12 clubs pay an average of about half what we pay

These figures include match appearances and bonuses, but don't include U21's

These figures, which I've mentioned on a few occasions, should show that JR, TB and DW are backing Dean with the money he needs to make an impact in this division. Given that, then he should have the quality of player to keep us in the play off area and, fingers crossed, get us into an automatic place.

dumbroofer.. I suspect it is because he is a positive thinker . He knows attendances are below par but what do you expect him to say other than explain how the club is busting it's arse in the comuunty to raise it's profile .. dtfc has NEVER been as well manged from BOARD down.

graingrover..we can all see what the club is doing to drag itself forward,and hats off to them i might add.
gavin, SM and all involved with the irwt idea are busting a gut,but that is what the answers were about and not as to why he thinks fans have gone awol.

Blades and probably Milton Keynes. Alan Smith alone is a hefty whack.

Bournemouth are going to end up in a bad way soon, especially if they don't go up this year. I heard they paid seven figures for Eddie Howe, while I don't know if that's true I can still imagine it being an awful lot for a highly rated Championship manager. Very worrying.
