Defensive performance on Saturday
« on December 10, 2012, 10:21:16 am by wilts rover »
Just reading Paulo's comments on Saturday's game in the local paper here, apparently they put 60 crosses into our box (he is moaning as to how many chances his forwards need to score). This highlights just what a great job Woods, Spurr and a one-legged Rob Jones did to see most of them off - but also what I thought watching the match, the wide midfield players need to work a bit harder to help out the full-backs.

Jones dropped a major rick for their goal, and who was supposed to be tracking the runner into the box? The defence can't be praised for the result on Saturday, we were lucky. Can't get promoted without luck though.

As a defensive unit they defended well with abit of luck yes but you can't allow for individual errors in that and thats how they scored

When the keeper gets every vote bar two for MoM, and they still hit the woodwork twice, I'd struggle to agree that they defended well but it's fair to say the keeper did.

Its because Woods dealt with everything and didnt make any mistakes, yes they had chances but alot were blocks and crosses that the defenders dealt with,it wasnt that woods had to to make 7 or 8 saves because he didnt.
