Platters and Olives
« on December 18, 2012, 11:40:21 am by CusworthRovers »
We had our Xmas do last night, and I'm feeling a tad fragile. Spent most of the night on Tiger beer and Red Wine.

Anyways we were served up platters of varying countries foods.......Indian, Chinese, American and Mediterranean.

Now I don't eat anything out of the sea (not even Prawn Cocktail crisps), so I didn't eat a deal as I didn't know what was inside most of the stuff. What made it worse is that I don't really do poor little bah lambs neither, and again one never knows what meat is in this stuff.

I was impressed with the Med Platter. I'm really getting a taste for Olives and Humous and those spicy round ball things. Even the Greek bread was proper bo. They did have 2, what can only be described to be oily turds (and they definitely looked like Oily Turds), on the plate and they were quite nice. Also some cheesy spiced balls and wraps

Anyways I'm out again tonight with the boys. More traditional British offerings though tonight ie John Smiths and Chicken Tikka Masalla and a very messy and smelly bottom is anticipated

If you're eating humous Cussy, you get everything that you deserve.  Not even the devil eats that filth.

Apologies if this is an advert, but in my unofficial role of promoter of Doncaster Market, there is a great stall selling Tapas and Oilve platters in the continental Market. They are the same ones M&S sell but much cheaper.
(Note: There are other shops selling Tapas Platters in the world).

If we're to attract the crème de la crème of talent from the Continent, surely the VSC should be looking to add a Tapas and Olive Platters firm to its list of commercial partners.

In terms of which stall, walk into the market from the fish market turn right, down near the corner by the Cafe.

If you mean which country are they from, the platters are M&S and would have to check packaging. Though there is a stall in the middle of the Continental Market, opposite the bakers which sells 10-20 different types of Olives.

Bet you wish you hadn't got me started...

I once had to pluck (is that the right word? Harvest maybe?) and then trim an ancient, gnarly, knobbly  olive tree. Took me ages and ages. Especially as it was about 400 degrees in the shade. Lot of olives though!

Not at all!
Just wondered, as my favourite ones are from the Valencia region. Large green ones.

Today's Olive purchase were from Crete.

When we in Spain in the summer we got chatting to the Restaurant owner who was telling us about the food, where it came from, how fresh it was etc.,

It somewhat reduced the magic to see him getting the olives from the world's largest tin can with a Spar label on it.
