I remember many moons ago when I was Commercial Manager at the Dons, we had a Cup Tie scheduled against then World Champions Widnes. Martin Offiah and all. The weekend sports programme was decimated. There was over six inches of snow on the pitch at Tattersfield. The groundsman checked under the snow and the pitch was playable. We did not have the supporter resources of thhe Rovers, but we put out an appeal for supporters to come and shovel snow. We were inundated with people wanting to help. Booths scrapyard supplied his JCB to clear away the car park. People came from all over with their own shovels and a local Hardware shop gave us some snow shovels. One man actually walked from Conisborough, setting off at 4 am. We were determined to get the game on and when Widnes arrived, their coach wanted the game called off, and told his players to stay on the bus. His next question was " Where's the ref"? When he was told that the referee was in the middle of the pitch with a snow shovel himself, he said, " Well, that's F****d that, off the bus lads". The game was played and the shovellers were given a pair of tickets to a future game. It can be done if the want is there to play the game.

I remember Dons reversing a cup fixture with Leeds in the early 80's. Dons were drawn at home in the challenge cup but we all travelled across to Headingley.
See you there hopefully but how do you shift 5mm of snow ?
Tinpot club, never done us any favours
