shrewsbury parking - please help
« on February 24, 2013, 03:32:25 pm by normal rules »
i am considering the trip to shrewsbury on tues night and have been doing the research around parking near the ground. Jesus, i thought colchester was bad, but shrewsbury really take the biscuit.
Now i must admit i am a tight arse and i despise paying for parking anywhere, at any time. I usually mange to park at away grounds without issue or cost having had no problems at places like nottingham, coventry, norwich, newcastle, london, oldham, birmingham...the list goes on.
Shrewsbury however as a club and town seem to have gone out of their way to make travelling motorists pay to go to watch a game their. No lawful parking whatsoever near the ground. The retail park, and all local roads are permit holders only - and i have read on ground guide of some falling foul and getting tickets. i see they run a park and ride from town but it seems daft driving 3 hrs their to then park and get on a bloody bus, and then pay for said bus trip.

is their someone out there with experience of parking somewhere sensible near the ground without running the risk of getting a ticket and without paying 5 to 7 quid for the pleasure.
i dont mind a bit of a walk either. i park on sandy lane for home games.

cue responses of "tight wad" etc

The only fine you can recieve is a parking ticket from the Local Council or the Police, any other "ticket" as you describe it is just a speculative invoice, not enforceable in a court of law

Most roads around the stadium seem to be permit perking and where the fan said to have got a ticket on sutton road or somewhere like that ,having just been on google maps there seems to be signs up there aswell.

drive at 60 m.ph instead of 70 on the way down, the money you save will pay for your parking  :welcome:

Just asked  a mate of mine from Shrewsbury about the parking. The last two games he's been to they have allowed them to park on the park and ride car park near Sainsburys. Its about a five minute walk to the ground. He said don't park on the  Sainsburys car park you may get a ticket. This has been a change in there policy if he;s right. Soon find out Tuesday nightIm going to have I going to try it.
