End of the season dillema's
« on March 04, 2013, 05:28:07 pm by uros-predic »
Very intriguing to think how JR is going to deal with the circumstances coming up at the end of the season!
With Flynn being out of contract and never managed at championship level, is his job dependent on us winning promotion?
Will we change management if we dont get promoted?
If we get promoted unconvincingly and with a lot of luck will we take our chances with someone else? (Obviously only if there is someone suitable available)
I understand there is a possible slight player overhaul due to out of contract players, so would it be a massive disaster to change manager aswell if a lot of players do leave?
Or is the plan of a squad overhaul only gonna happen if we dont get promoted?
I apologise if these points have been already been discussed!

I'd give Brian FLynn an extended contract regardless of the league we're playing in next year.

IMO flynn is a breath of fresh air with his positivity and confidence in his players. But like he's said, and i agree, we have the best squad in the league so failure to achieve promotion surely is not good enough. Im sure he would be given another season though and why not!

If we go up then give it to him, he'd deserve it. Others might have experience but that necessarily isn't a good thing.

Everyone is assuming that he would want the job, I don't know if he's confirmed anywhere that he does?

He says he already has plans for what he can do for us next season. So reading between the lines...

It's all or nothing for Flynn, I think. If he takes us up, how can we not give him the job? If he doesn't, there's no way we can offer him the job after where we were when he was appointed. Harsh but it's a results business.

We've just got to get there first and,  if we do then it won't be due to luck.

Who'll be regarded as the mastermind behind the promotion? Saunders who started it off or Flynn who finished it? Be interesting to see the views on the flip side should we achieve promotion.

If there is a swell of gratitude from us, the players and the media then it will be a difficult decision to replace Flynn. I always think you should stay faithful to the core of players, the style of play, the training regime that got you the success in the first place. You can only gradually improve with evolving the squad or adding quality to the depth of the squad. That's the way SO'D achieved it until the tide turned and he ran of of luck with injuries.

Just listened to his interview on RP and he says he wants to manage us in the championship next season. He's said before that he has big plans for us next season. JR has said something like he'll be involved for a long time. Given that RJ will probably still be playing (barring any mishaps) I think you can be pretty damn sure that Brian will be our manager next season and I for one will be very happy with that whether we're promoted or not. For me he's improved the way we play and made us more entertaining to watch, to go along with the effectiveness Dean gave us.

He aint 'The Interim One'.

Regardless of whether we are in League 1 or the Championship next season I'd like hime to be manager.  As someone else stated he is a breath of fresh air.  Some of the things he says can be a bit cringe worthy at times but hey ho.

He knows a good player when he sees one too and isn't frightened to throw him in (Lundstrum).  Which ever league we are in I think we will get more players of the Lundstrum quality next season mixed in with the bite (Keegan) that is needed for us to consolidate in the Championship.

Not a fan of keeping Flynn if we go up. I don't think he would hack it in the championship. Still not sure about him at this level...

At this point, for me it's more down to results really.

Promotion? He has to keep the job
Failure in the play-offs? That outcome would require a bit of judgement from the owners
Drop out of the play-offs... That would be a big disappointment given our position. Probably time for a change.
