Goal Music

Why is this back? I hope it's not because one person wrote in to the Free Press to complain about it's disappearance.

Follow up: I'm told JR insisted it came back so fair enough. I still hate it though.

I presumed it was only back for today because Pompey fans made a lot of noise whereas we didn't.

Not being funny, but the atmosphere generated by our fans today was nothing short of pathetic. Top of the league, winning for most of the game, nearest contenders getting thumped, and the KMS like a library as usual.

The jokers near me were their usual happy selves too, moaning at people for getting out of seats when we scored.

Is this for real? What section of the ground do you sit in? Unbelievable attitude from some people.

I sometimes get people sniping at me for my vociferous shouting (they only hear the negative, obviously) but moaning at people for getting out of seats when we score is ludicrous. They're following the wrong sport!

Neat the press box in the West Stand. There's a couple of old blokes towards the back, who moan like hell if anyones stands or gets excited. Even when we score.

Credit to the Pompey fans. They were fantastic.

Dear me. I just don't get that at all!

Agreed that the Portsmouth fans were great, in full voice the whole game.

So much for irwt then. Is this JR throwing his weight about because he couldn't put his design in for the new shirts?

It's an embarrassing amateur feature along with the fact I have tinnitus when I leave the ground due to how loud the music is. Mind I wish it was because of how load the fans were although the football on offer is not exactly exciting top or not

When taking the big JR flag down they were still there at about 20 past five, about 25 of them, and the drummer all had taken their shirts off and swinging them around their heads singing "We're not going home" while the stewards continuously ask them to leave.

We have it back for a reason imo...........the fact that we don't raise the roof when we score, we don't chant and we have whingeing feckers telling every Tom, Dick and Harry to sit down when we score.
Just what has happened to our support...........? It's abysmal sadly  :( :( :(

If I was putting as many of my millions of pounds into the club as JR has, I'd like to think that it buys the right to pick a song if thats what I want.
For me , he could have "I should be so lucky, lucky , lucky , lucky" by Kylie if he wants. It's his club, we just rent a seat for a couple of hours.
For the Poll , I like Tom Hark, my kids missed it. I noticed though, they played it quieter than usual.

Bullshit.

The fans will be here long after Ryan has departed. Collectively, the fans have put far more money in than he ever will. It's not a rich man's plaything.

Sadly, that's where you're wrong, thats exactly what it is at most clubs. We just help their investment along, or not.

This attitude of "JR can do what he wants" annoys me. It is a blinkered, daft view and one I'd only really expect of a farmyard sheep. I'm not calling you a sheep btw, just a general comment on this as I see people say it a lot. "JR can throw us off a cliff he likes due to all he has done".

I love John Ryan don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade him in for Jesus as the owner of this football club. But it doesn't mean we should all pretend we have no opinions and let JR say and do any thing he wants presuming he is right and his opinion is better than everyone elses.

My stance on the goal music remains. It's tinpot as hell.

No, I disagree. Fans have a lot more say than you think. We shouldn't just take stuff like this lying down. This is the whole idea of fan engagement that Martin et al are doing. Without the fans the club would cease to exist.

I think that point of view is fine, so long as the club hadn't promised that they would listen to the fans more and take their requests into account.

I'm all for JR doing what he wants to do, but it just seems to undermine the whole fan engagement thing. What I'm trying to say is, if the club want to carry on doing what THEY want, then they shouldn't promise the fans that they'll be listened to.

Does any other chairman swing so wildly from great, encouraging publicity to PR own goals as John Ryan?

The goal music went as part of the In Rovers We Trust initiative; the key word there being 'trust', as I understood its remit was to help people regain trust in the Rovers after last season. Does no-one ever say no to John or advise him on these things?

If it has to stay, then please for the love of God get rid of Tom Hark at least; generic nondescript football bobbins that it has become.

How about Angel is a Centrefold?

On the subject of music, how come they've stopped playing "Wild Rover" in its entirety when the players run out, and have cut it down to just having the chorus on loop?
