Our one failing today......
« on April 01, 2013, 06:54:23 pm by normal rules »
Was the constant inability to get the ball swung in from the left and right sides when we had players queued up in the box.
Maybe I don't enough about professional football but it just seemed the obvious thing to do instead of playing it back into midfield and on occasion all the way back to woods.
I know they Swindon have one of the best defensive records in the division but let's at least put the ball in the mixer so to speak a little more often. We do have the players that can attack the ball with headers.
that said it was a great team performance today, just a little frustrating at times.

Totally agree, i lost count of the times I shouted CROSS IT , then watched silly one twos before we were forced to play it back....  such a shame because we deserved a bigger win, it was just the lack of a final ball that dint help us.  Bar that tho, a cracking game..

Got to agree. Especially when cotterill (who is up there with the likes of ian harte/stevie g in terms of the deliveries he puts in week in, week out) decides to play a short corner which almost always end up in losing the ball!

We tend to look for the perfect ball or angle before crossing it into a 50/50 situation, as long as we're keeping possession I don't mind them continuing how they are going.
Finding room in crowded defensive areas is all about pulling defenders out of position to create a gap, and you can only do that by keeping the ball moving.

Uros, don't get toooooooo excited. I thought there were too many occasions today when Cotterill's ball into the box was poor - especially from set pieces where he didn't get it past the first man.
The main thing was we won. But Cotterill will never be 'up there' with Gerrard or Harte at crossing the ball

He's bloody good at crossing though. The trouble today was Cotts was on the left and he had to cut back to get it on his right foot. Swindon knew this so showed him the outside all the first half.

We were better at this in the 2nd half.  Perhaps the players were hesitant at crossing if they thought it wouldn't be effective?

I also thought in the first half that Furman at least could have shot going forward, but in all honesty we got better as the game went on.  Never in danger at the back and looking like scoring going forward - I remember a really good header deep at the far post that the keeper managed to tip round for another corner, was it Brown's header?

Thinking back to comparing his deliveries with stevie g, well  :suicide: :chair:

I suppose the point still stands, jones, mccombe, brown in the box and 19 assists to your name - the last thing he should be thinking about is a short corner. Ah well who cares :woohoo:
