Sullivan to continue?
« on May 02, 2013, 09:56:22 am by Red Rover »
Neil Sullivan is open to a new contract offer, taking him into his 44th year...would you keep him on as reserve? Great experience to have around, and I'm sure he'll take a pay cut for one last chance at the Championship.

"My contract’s up. I’m one of many at Donny in that position because we didn’t know what was going on, who the manager’s going to be, it was all up in the air. The chairman’s certainly going to have a busy summer.”

I'd keep him on as a player-coach if we get rid of Gary Woods. No point in having him signed up as a player if we have a new No.1, G.Woods and Maxted.

I guess that depends if we find a good standard for him... Personally i'd like to see him be Reserve team No.1

We bumped into him at the services on the way home on Saturday and he didn't sound very convincing when asked about his future. I'd be surprised to see him in a Rovers shirt again.

Woods, although he has improved a lot this season, was still a tad unconvincing at L1 level. I'd fear for our safety if he was number one choice in the Championship.

I'd like Sulli to still be at the club in some capacity.  Absolute legend here whose experience would prove invaluable

In an ideal world we'd have this;

New No.1
Maxted - No.2 & Reserve No.1
G.Woods on loan in L1
Sullivan - Goalkeeper coach (registered to play as last resort)

Saunders was obviously happy with Woods...I wonder if we can swap him for De Vries?  ;)

How much have you seen of Maxted to justify saying he should be our NPC number 2 and Woods should go out on loan?

None but he is highly rated. Woods is not going to improve unless he is playing games at a good level, that's why i'd send him out on loan.

Lets face it, we keep giving him chances, but in a nutshell, Gary Woods is not nearly good enough!

I don't think the existing GK Coach has done owt wrong but providing Sulli is qualified to do so I would let him at that job

I would free transfer GW and sign a new Number 1 - potentially we can get one of the gits who played out of their skins against us and let Sulli / whoever is No.1 get on with it

Strike while the iron is hot - I think we almost got Murphy from Scunny but it fell through and though (he looks) small he would have been a good signing ... so steam in NOW for ????? whoever

I cant believe the "Club" are not aware of the problems between the sticks and below the (now beloved) Crossbar !

Hasn't Lee Butler moved on to a more 'general' coaching role?

Goalkeeper position needs some proper investment, not just a decent free transfer because they are free. Although if there's a quality free transfer available, then win win!
