Simon Church is the right age if we could afford him(21), the others are are all above 29 so realistically short term deals only.

I'd leave Church not prolific would demand a wage probably above our average, rather give Paynter more of a chance

We missed a trick not going for Le Fondre a few seasons back didn't we? 12 goals in the premiership this season.  Think he'll be top scorer in the championship nest season.

We missed him because we would not pay £350,000 for him. Reading paid that amount. Also realistically if there was a choice of Reading and their wage structure and Doncaster and their wage structure, there was only one choice. Therefore I do not think we missed him, we could not afford him.

He actually said he wanted to come here and if Sharp had gone in the summer we'd probably have gone in for him as his replacement.

I also understand his salary demands were a lot higher than sharp was commanding at the time

He was touted to every club in SY by his agent. His wage demands were astronomical.

IMO, Simon Church is better than anything we have up front at present, but I doubt we could afford his wages.

If he's asking for high wages then there is something wrong with him. He's struggled at the majority of Championship teams he's been at and hardly set League One alight when on-loan there. Flynn will know him from the Wales U-21's.

We definitely missed out on Le Fondre, but there's no way we could compete with Reading, they will have surplus cash available from getting into the Premiership, plus parachute payments.
Simon Church is just the type of player we need, but he's got to realise,he's twenty four and he's had a stop start career upto now,his next move is vital to where his career goes,if i was him,i'd be wanting a club with plenty of first team football, rather just looking for the biggest wage,he looked a very promising player a few years ago for Reading,if the deal fits in with our wage structure great,if not there will be others.
