So you can only bet on Yeovil and Us to get relegated!

Of course we are going to be one of the favourites for relegation.
We (along with Yeovil and Bournemouth) are going to be small clubs in a division of teams the majority of which has played in the Premier League.
We will find it difficult to compete in the transfer market with the likes of the teams who get the parachute payments, and Leicester, Leeds etc. in fact we will find it impossible.

Hopefully we can prove the bookies wrong and the players we bring in on frees, loans etc have the qualities needed to keep us up

I'll have a tenner on us to get relegated. That should secure safety!

Have the circumstances of our rivals changed that much since the last time we survived in the Championship. Surely we now have the Fair Play rules to assist us ?

Yes, they have changed. The parachute payments have gone up.

Fair play rules my backside!!!!!
Cardiff - we can only pay x% of our turnover in salaries, so what we'll do is sponsor a business deal. We'll change the name of the stadium and the nickname of the club (on paper only obviously) and we'll give them £100m to do it. WTF is fair about that???!!!

Us Yeovil and Barnsley are just not. Fashionable for some reason, that's all it's based on, nothing statistical at all

i think the bookies have got it right to a certain degree. Us and Yeovil will almost more thsn likely have the smallest budgets in the division along with the smallest support by some considerable margin. Look how many teams have still got parachute payments coming in. We will find it hard in the championship as its far from a level playing field we are entering.  Personally though i think if. we keep the nucleus of the squad we should be ok as we have something in our side that money cant buy , and that is a never say attitude and for me that will be key for our survival .

Course the bookies have got it right - they don't get it massively wrong too often (admittedly occasionally they do as we showed in 03/04) or else they'd go out of business!

We are going to be one of the favourites for relegation - and rightly so, as other people in the thread have said, we are going to have probably one of the two smallest budgets in the division. Many of our current players (in my opinion) are neither quick paced, quick footed or quick thinking enough to succeed in this league and will be among the 'worst' (for want of a much better word) in the division.

At the moment we have no proven keeper of quality at the right age, and no striker that is likely to score anywhere near 20 goals next season. Our current central defensive pairing whilst both very strong in the air, and very good at putting their bodies in front of anything are largely immobile compared to the strikers they are going to come across next season. Our central midfield pairing at the moment is two of Syers, Harper, Keegan or Wilson - so yes we at the moment look very weak for this league.

However...
We have a Chairman and Board of Directors at the club who have proven time and time again that they know what they are doing.
Our CEO and supporters group (obviously the VSC among them) are helping to change the very infrastructure and core of the club.
Our players have a 'never-say-die' attitude and pull together for each other unreservedly at all times.
We've been in this division not too long ago.
There's always a 'big' club or two that get sucked into a relegation battle they hadn't expected to find themselves in.
We have a new manager with new ideas.
We have people like Flynn in the background with all of his knowledge, contacts and experiences.
We are expected to finish (by everyone outside of the club) in one of those relegation spots.
Our expectations as a set of fans need to be that FOURTH BOTTOM IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP will be a success, anything above that will be an absolute bonus!

There is no doubt in my mind that we will be on the end of some almighty drubbings next season, but I think we can muster enough points throughout the season to be safe - it's going to be tight and may go down to the very last game, so I'm looking forward to watching this close season how our club takes shapes up ready for another shot in the Championship.

The bookies have (at this moment in time got it about right) if we suddenly spent £50m on 10 £5m players then we wouldn't be! But that ain't gonna happen 'cos JR and the guys aren't that stupid!

There are some big teams in this league next season, and some smaller ones too - our job will be to finish at the top of the 'smaller team' league (Us, Yeovil, Barnsley, Milwall and to a lesser extent, Huddersfield and Bournemoutth!) That I think when the season comes round is what we'll be aiming and ready for!

That just about sums it up.
IMO we need to bring in SEVERAL players and strengthen all over the pitch. And anywhere out of the bottom 3 wold be a successful season

sorry wellred not sure what you mean mate as only club in championship close to us size wise are the dingles but they always escape and with the good job their man did last year i think they should be alright but there on the A1 . The wendies down the M18 are a bigger club and will no doubt have a bigger budget than us than us ,again i think they will prob be ok and finish mid table. Of course we shall take 12 points from these as its just the way it is as size isnt the same as class lol
