Just a couple of things.

Firstly, we always knew in his first public appearance he was going to try and be as amicable as possible and the stage was already set in terms of not giving anything away on the signings front. he did say though that he knows Richie Wellens very well and he is the calibre of player he wants to bring.

May be an element of saying things that we want to hear in terms of playing football on the deck etc. Also confirmed categorically that Rob Jones is his choice as captain and leader.

He's talking about bringing in 2 'assistants', assuming one will be Brian Horton.

Secondly, he did not scurry away once the formalities were over and he took the time to talk to a few people. He came across as very personable, very easy to talk to and gave me some confidence that teams will not be looking forward to their visits to the KM.

On the negative side, and only time will tell, he doesn't give the impression that he has a 'blueprint' in mind and will fit players in to that structure, but will try and mould together the best of what he can get.

I think he will have to learn as he goes and you wonder how he'll conduct himself under pressure. I get the feeling it could be shit or bust with him unless he takes counsel from those around him and counts to 10 before opening his mouth.

Overall, definitely more positive than negative and I'm sure we will get behind him and wish him all the best.

What is the strategy and targets with regard to the youth development? Does he see them getting given a chance this season?

Basically I get the impression that the 'development' squad will be Brian Flynn's baby. They have applied to join the Central League and I'm sure it will be a mixture of youth and first team bench warmers/returners from injury.

I'm sure if they think someone's good enough they will give them a chance.

Well, he's honest and hardworking. He was at great pains to make that point.

He wants to play good football on the grass, that's what we all like to see. He likes his sides to press from the front.

Except when you are forced to try something 'different' suggesting he will go direct if he feels it's worth trying.

On the stadium front, we could see clearly the pitch has been 'reseeded' again and after only a week there is a good covering of grass. Baldwin emphasised the advice they'd taken from the FA and have invested and additional £30k to potentially be one of the best pitches in the country.

The concourse improvements start one Monday and Lindley's are still in negotiations about supplies so, it appears the choice of ale is still up in the air. He tried to emphasise that they were looking for the best deal so that the best price could be offered to us. Not convinced we'll see the back of Carlsberg just yet!!

On the blueprint thing - I'd rather that than have a system and then only sign people who fit into that system potentially turning away quality players or the steel we might need if they don't fit, a la O'Driscoll with McArthur, McCarthy, Adam etc.

Enjoyed last night but 2 things wound me up a bit. First was someone bringing Mckay up....will we ever forget this?

The other was the bloke having a go about Jordon Ball. PD said he hasnt seen him play...bloke replies 'thought you came to watch us 4 times'.

What a stupid comment when ball never played!

Thought he was a bit non-committal on the crucial question regarding Billy Bremner making the pitch smaller though!!!!!!!!

It was quite funny. When Dickov retorted "It's not my fault!" as if to say "Do wanna start son !"
