Yawn.

I would prefer it if we did our transfer dealings in private. What exactly do you expect from the club?!

Is there any evidence for this new signings = new season tickets malarkey? If memory serves me correctly the season we signed Billy Sharp our ST sales went down. New signings interest only the people who are going to go anyway - cheaper prices = new season tickets.

Whilst clubs all be it league 2 and 1 mainly have started making signings, you can sort of understand some anxiety that we still don't have a squad and that the rumblings from the club was that we would have some news this week

I'd rather have people excited and impatient rather than bored and not expecting anything

Wilts,
I actually don't agree that cheaper season tickets/match day prices necessarily mean bigger crowds. Not that many more anyway. We have actually had difficulty giving tickets away on occasions.

Also, I still have my receipt for the West Stand season ticket from our first full season at the Keepoat and it's more expensive than next season ( I got mine with the early bird discount) and how many have we sold? Well, I know we don't know the exact number, but not many I don't think.
Just a thought :-)

Good point Godlike.
I do believe it was said that the squad would mainly be in place by the start of pre-season

I have a feeling that if training starts on Monday there will be one or two unfamiliar faces and that announcements will start a week on Monday. We have accused the Rovers of making their targets too obvious in the past and deals have been scuppered because of that.
Lets make the announcements when the pen has been found and the ink has dried. what is better "DRFC can announce the signing of........" or "DRFC are interested in signing......" I know which I prefer. Have patience.

Agreed Raven.
But assuming no signings have been made which we don't know about, training could be a bit thin Monday morning.
Will all the out of contract players actually turn up?

If they are still out of contract, will they be allowed to, for Insurance purposes?

Hoola, before you get your panties in a bunch, just tell me which clubs have made a load of signings so far.

Personally, I'm struggling to name 5 transfers that have gone through off the top of my head.

I suspect a lot of the nervousness stems from the large number of Rovers players imminently out of contract and despite the deadline set by the manager (yesterday, I thought), it appears that not a single one has resigned yet.
Until they do I will continue to feel nervous.

And to add to that our CEO is on holiday until early July too, so don't expect anything major being announced until then. I've already said on another thread that the senior management are all absent from the club at the moment. Patience is required.

When did he go on holiday? I walked past him in the stadium three days ago.

PD himself was also running around the other day looking very busy.

why does the CEO have to be there for the contracts? I thought dickov/JR could take of that?

I didn't say that did I.

But why have a CEO if you leave contracts to one of the shareholders and the team manager?

that's what i got from your post anyway.

player contracts seems more to do with the playing side and i would expect that to be dealt with by management and chairman who have plenty experience with it. A CEO to control the club away from the playing side e.g. in the community, control/organize stadium events etc

Sorry, you're wrong. The CEO controls the whole budget and its his responsibility to ensure targets and budgets are met. How could he do his job if one of the owners of the club and the manager were let loose on players contracts?

So nothing is going to be done without gavin baldwin? He's the vital part of the transfer process? Wow!

I'm sure there's plenty that Gavin and P Diddy have already agreed on but unlikely any 'new' business will be concluded until Gavin returns. There could be a host of verbal agreements but nothings sealed until contracts are signed. There's plenty of time for that.

That shouldn't be surprising, things are done in the same way at most clubs.
