I've had a dream
« on August 15, 2013, 09:11:41 pm by Bentley Bullet »
Dead vivid it was. I was in the pub for my pre-match drink when I received a text from the wife. Surprisingly romantic for some reason it said
If you are laughing, send me your smile.
If you are eating, send me a bite.
If you are drinking, send me a sip.
 I love you.

Well I didn’t know what to text back because I was sat on the toilet with bad guts after having a bad pint.
Being the romantic type I never mentioned I’d got the Brad Pitts but told her I was eating a meat and potato pie and would take her one home. I remember thinking to myself here’s me sat on the toilet texting – who said blokes can’t multi-task!

After vacating the gents or perhaps evacuating would be a more appropriate description, I decided to call it a day in the pub and head for the Keepmoat.  Exiting the door I thought at least my condition has less chance of recurring during the game now that we have Ross Turnbull in goal! I dread to think what would have happened last season!

In what seemed a daunting task, the match produced a much improved performance by Rovers. New keeper Ross Turnbull was magnificent and showed why he was the only ever Rovers player to have a Champions league winner’s medal. Rovers contained an early onslaught from Blackburn and took the lead with a Rob JONES header from a Cotterill corner (26 mins). The first half ended 1-0 despite plenty of end to end stuff.

H.T Rovers 1 Blackburn 0

A defensive mix up allowed Blackburn to equalise following a Spurr long throw (56 mins). The visitors were spurred on following this but it was credit to Donny who also stepped up the pace and regained the lead with a Chris BROWN tap-in (79 mins). Blackburn threatened but Turnbull matched everything they threw at him. The ref FINALLY blew his whistle after 97 minutes after tormenting the home fans with what seemed a determined attempt to give Blackburn time to equalise.

Final score;
Rovers 2 Blackburn 1

I think it was Greening? The trivia question popped up in the office the other day of the 3 uncapped Englishmen to win a CL medal and apparently its Greening, May and Turnbull. Ryan Bertrand was uncapped when he won one with Chelsea but has been capped since.

Not Champions League, but still European Cup, Tony Woodcock has a winners medal!
