Dickov OUT
« on August 31, 2013, 10:35:49 pm by Donny Old Boy »
Now I've got your attention

For f**ks sake let's get a grip. One bad day at the office and according to some of the threads on here all of a sudden some players are not good enough for this league, are goalkeeper is crap at balls crossed into the area etc, etc. Come on one bad game does not make us a bad team. Let's be positive, though I know that is hard for some on this forum. Yes I know people are entitled to an opinion, but at times it borders on the ridiculous.

To be fair the new goalie has not been any improvement on Gary Woods. As for the rest of the hysteria I agree get a grip one poor league performance in four and a half isn't bad.

What a ridiculous 1st sentence in your post. Which of our new or for that matter existing players are you seeking to have a go at  next ?

Ross Turnbull no better than Gary Woods? Andy have a word with yourself, he made a class save today and a series of ten at Wigan.

You weren't at Charlton then?

There is no doubt in my mind that Turnbull is one hell of a good keeper. I was at Charlton and witnessed three fantastic saves he made. It wasn't luck that he made those saves and I am confident that he will be universally recognised as one of the best keepers we have had alongside  Gregg,  Potter, Nimmo, Warrington.

Just bear in mind our team are still at pre season stage and it will take time to gel.

Young Dicky and the team will do fine for me, don't panic, they just need time and solid support.

Daft result for you yesterday, but crikey, you were 2-0 up at Wigan and 3-0 up last week.

Seems reasonably impressive so far. Sounds as though you need to be a bit more ruthless in your play, but apart from that the reports sound fine.

You are fcuking joking arn't you? exactly how many games have you seen this season? I've been to every game home and away and believe me, Turnbull IS better than Woods OR Sulli.

The negativity on this site is a joke.        :suicide:

I can only assume that Mr Sly has never actually seen Turnbull play. For me the comparison with Woods is daft; Turnbull is just a better keeper full stop.

That said, a weakness that plenty have noted, and that I agree with, is that he needs to be more assertive in dealing with crosses. Part of this is about communication with his central defenders which will come.

One thing never changes .. we have 'fans ' who only come out when we lose and are so superior in their judgement you wonder why they have never been Managers themselves.Perhaps a lack of motivational skills?

I think maybe what Andy is trying to articulate - and not very well, is that Turnbull looked a bit dodgy with crosses yesterday. I can recall 3 possibly 4 he came for in the first half, all of which he tried to punch and not very successfully. It is one area he definitely needs to improve in.
He did make a fantastic save in the second half which I hoped would keep us in the game.

He is a relatively inexperienced keeper, having played about 100 first team games in 10 years, but I agree is a lot better than Woods. Better than Sulli? If you're talking about the 42 year old that left us in the summer, then probably. If you're talking about Sulli in his prime, for me nowhere near.

I think Turnbull will turn out to be a cracking keeper for us, I've been impressed with him so far. Yes he's looked a bit shakey at times with crosses and stuff but overall I think he's been very good and will only get better the more he plays with the defence in front of him.
